Not a huge amount. I know a fair bit about various sects of Christianity.

I have read the Koran in translation, a few books explaining Islam, and have had somewhat extensive conversation with Moslem friends.

I have read a fair bit on Taoism and Buddhism, but never practiced or spoken in any real depth with a practicing Taoist or Buddhist.

I mostly know Judaism through news accounts, and a few reformed Jew friends and acquaintances. Nothing too in depth.

I have decent understanding of Wicca from reading and discussions with practitioners.

Thank you. Interesting. I read about a third of the Koran in translation. I was a bit surprised how much of it was so similar to parts of the old testament. My adopted son is Muslim, so at one time I had quite a bit of contact with other Muslims in the D.C. area, although those other Muslims and I never talked about the religion.

I don't really care about the religion ---but rather the head of it - who it came from...so
I'm interested in
Krishna Himself.
Jesus Himself
Guru Nanak Himself
Buddha Himself
Lao Tzu Himself
(Must say Muhammad never interested me sorry, I did try.)
The Old Test Hebrew prophets, esp Jeremiah, Daniel -and so on, David, Hosea..
Not the actual religion.

What they said, what they taught, what they realized, their profound experiences
of the Creator or this existence.

Not really what you asked.

Not a problem. That's how conversations go.

Jolly explorations?
Expounding on it?

If people are going to get along in this world, they has to be some common level of cultural understanding.
Or maybe some of us just want to expand our knowledge base and learn more about our fellows with whom we share the planet. And sometimes the street or the office.

I don't think I indicated there was going to be a great revelation...just an experience.
There was a very interesting episode on Sikhs in America on CNN's United Shades of America with W. Kamau Bell. It is about a Sikh community in Yuba City, CA, that has been there for about 100 years, mostly farmers. I never knew about this, and it is fascinating. You might enjoy it if you can find it online.

Although my school had a pretty wide range of students from overseas, I think we only ever had one Sikh student, although we did have students from India.

Thats what I thought. On a forum where people just ask questions. All to often people are judge on something other than what they said.

yeah, I was reading about religions a while back and after reading a bit on them they all started sounding the same.

This magical thing did that, that magic thing did this. Buddha, not liking religion either, walked out on his wife and kid and said just do it yourself. The self help portion where all very similar two. A basic set of good stuff mixed with some rules and regs for us to live by and a fair amount of angst relief in regards to death and accountability.

Quite basic really. Stuff used to keep the herd from stampeding.
