The bottom line is religion (over all) is needed by society. Its better than some humanist forcing their morals on us anyway.
So are 'religious countries' <better> than ones where religion is not part of the general culture? Currently we have a problem with countries which are mostly Muslim, and we have a problem with communist countries, so are you saying that 'religious countries' are better, more moral than the other countries in the world. Or..is it just your country or mostly Christian countries? What about Catholic countries because some people say Catholic religion is not a Christian religion?
There are so many holes in your statement that it is meaningless.
The Bible was written at least 50 years after the death of Jesus anyway, so how do the quotes appear after so long. They MUST be generated after the event described.

The word is "balance". You are so far out of touch that it really isn't me. I am sorry for what they did to you, but lets look at it this with some logic.
The simple fact is, anti-religious country's don't exist because even the most stupid person understands its not good. The risks of a country being totally anti-religious are so far in a way more dangerous than a religion, no body thinks it reasonable.
For example, how can the religious claim that their books are from the word of God when they have never had the originals and their books are nothing more than copies of copies that have been changed, altered and edited thousands of times?
23"But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him."
This is the Principle.
What I don’t understand is why religious people like you get offended or upset when their beliefs and doctrines are questioned. I have friends that are very religious that don’t act like this when I question them and they give their viewpoints and thoughts without being hostile. Why is it that you are never able to answer any questions when your beliefs are challenged?
So...what did your "very religious" friends say when you asked them the same question?

Out of curiosity, do you discount the totality of American Indian history, given that its roots were passed down through the oral tradition, rather than written records?

That's a loaded question, and wrong. We have oral tradition and we have archaeology that backs up parts of that oral history.
Life is not all black and white.
