Whether you kill for a god named allah, jehovah or jesus it is still murder. It would seem illogical for god of any name to demand his followers to break one of the most serious of his own commandments. But, thats just me
Actually killing a person unlawfully is murder. Killing a person lawfully is just killing. And if your God is the real God, and He directs you to kill, then you would be legally bound to do so. Now the real question is. What if you believe your God is the real God, but in reality is a false God?

People kill for world leaders everyday. People join, are drafted, are hired to kill for land, treasure, and defense. Would you rather be led by a man, or by God almighty. We wouldn't be a country if people chose not to fight for freedom.

Legally bound to kill because god said so? Since when are god's laws legal? You religious folks are beginning to scare me.
No offense, but are some of us really re-reading what we're writing?
Ok, let me hazard some dumb scenario. A bunch of nomads are roaming a desert/wilderness. They claim their god rescued them from slavery in Egypt, the world's greatest empire of the time. Their god does not let them seize Egypt and take over all that wealth and power for some odd reason. Instead they claim he sent them north to do a hostile take over of a piece of land supposedly promised to them. Apparently the people already living there were not informed of this so they continued living there going about their business.
Somehow they encounter a hitch. Due to some bad reporting, the attempted take over stalled for 40 years. Now maybe it's just me, but let me see. A nomadic people with no land to call their own, walking in a hostile environment with hostile people around them. Before them is a fertile land "flowing with milk and honey" but other people are already inhabiting it. Hmmm....so how can they take the land away? Well, why not just say the people living there are evil, wicked and that YOUR god is sick and tired of them? To even make even better, why not just say YOUR god promised the land to your great ancestor?
So they document this in a book we call the Bible today. They do not beat around the bush in telling us that they practically exterminated the local population in the name of their god and for some odd reason many people have NO or see NO problem with this. Would these be the same people ho see no problem with old world Conquistadors coming over to this side of the world and massacring whole populations while trying to convert them to their god or white slave masters kidnapping Africans and bringing them here to civilize them with Christianity?
exactly which biblical reference are you refering to???
the
'Canaanites are first mentioned in Genesis 10....
after the flood.....
when Noah and his sons began to re-populate the earth...
Scary how this mentality exactly reflects those of the Nazis: Obey Hitler (or your immediate superior) and leave the consequences to him.
And there are Christians who still believe that Nazis could not be Christian.
I guess there is a reason why all dictators expect total obedience from their subjects, because total obedience replaces the individual autonomy and many people find not having to think for themselves very 'liberating'. It also is a fact that when this is done in the presence of a group it also enhances the group-identity.
I guess this is why many people join cults and why I distrust organised religion.

Well believe it or not, some of our laws today are based on God's Biblical laws. Thou shalt not murder. Thou shalt not steal. ect. Since the Christian faith has been established, God has not directed Christian people to kill anyone, so you don't have to get to upset about our activities. The God of the Old Testament did take a more active part in the activities of the Jewish people to establish them in the land of Israel.
