Default Who determines what is blasphemy and...

what if all of us were not invited to the meeting that determines what and what isn't blasphemy OR got the memo/e-mail? Can others dictate to the rest of us, without our vote, what is blasphemous or not?

Keep one thing in mind, however. Remember the Jews accused Jesus of blasphemy for a few things? Now to some Jews he offended their religious senses by implying to be God and forgiving sins and all that good stuff. Should he have toned it own to oblige them or are there any Christians who would agree his acts and words were offensive to Jews, hence blasphemous? See how subjective this can get?

Others can't dictate what is or is not blasphemous because it's based on their own personal bias.

Blasphemy is the idea that gives religious leaders power over other people. So, if there is such a thing as blasphemy, then yes, others can dictate and have dictated what is blasphemous. The council of Nicea did just that. Claiming blasphemy is exercising power over another and is the justification for murder, sometimes genocide. It is one of the great evils of the world and is a strong technique used in mind control and brainwashing.

This is what I thought.

I raised this topic because I asked a question on another site asking if it is possible the biblical god was just merely another god (and provided scripture). I was told I was posting blasphemy and was actually cursed out.

Cursed out using blasphemy no doubt.

I have never understood how some people lead a life where they never question anything. IF there is a god then he gave us a brain didn't he? A brain he wants us to use and question so we aren't lead down a garden path right? Does god want you to be a lemming?

I know, I know - thats blasphemy !!
