That's nothing. When I saw The Book of Mormon at the Kennedy Center in DC, there were no less than three advertisements in the Playbill. "You've seen the play, now read the book" was one.
In case you are unfamiliar with it, the musical not only makes fun of the LDS Church in particular and Christianity in general, it deals in dark comedy with a subject that no human being religious or otherwise should ever find amusing--and yet it works.
Curious about the ads, I did some Googling, and I found a couple of interviews with LDS representatives who said that for one thing, they were relieved at a pop culture presentation that didn't once mention plural marriage, and secondly, while the portrayal of young missionaries was obviously not their cup of tea, there was truth in the story insofar as the difficulties and challenges the missionaries face in strange lands.
