I would anticipate a religious zeal that sees it as an obligation to spread a particular understanding of God, religion, morality and practice. As I am not in line with the Catholic vision of those things, I would expect to be excluded, marginalized, targeted or in other ways diminished by a theocratic monarchy based in Catholicism.

Under this scenario, revolution or overthrowing the monarchy within your lifetime is not feasible. It's something that you are just going to have to live under for the foreseeable future.

Since I recognize that probably not a single poster here would view this change as a good thing, what I want to know is:

What exactly are you afraid of?

What changes do you envision will take place?

How will your day to day life change?

What will you no longer be allowed to do that you can do now? What will you now be allowed to do that you couldn't before?

How will this affect your life?

Be as specific as you want and use your imagination!

Thanks in advance for any responses, as I don't really want to personally debate anything in this thread (though you are all free to debate, of course); I just want to get your thoughts.

I would live under the oppressive consciousness of a minority forever, even if I am not forced to convert, which likely will happen.

I object to Catholic condemnation of the damned, and its stand on LGBTQ and abortion. I cannot express freely my conscience or my practice my religion under a monarchy.
I object to monarchy.
My day will change drastically living under the shadow of such a state. It would be misery i cannot imagine.

Many moons ago, I posted on a religious forum with a catholic priest moderating. I was banned and it all disappeared.

It would just be more of the same.

You would be as free to practice your religion in Canada that still has a Queen as you do in the States. But of course it's a Constitutional Parliament Democracy not a religious monarch as Mike is asking about.

So what is your point? Stay on topic. We dont have a queen in the states, as far as i know. Who is our queen? I dont care to move to Canada
I am not just concerned for myself and my religion. I care to live in an open society where everyone is free to practice theirs.

The founding of our country was a big move away from kings and royalty, and this would be going beyond that, way farther into nonsense.

It'd be an exceedingly dumb idea that thankfully will never happen. Religious denominations are already a lot of trouble. Spirituality and religious thought is best handled individually, at a personal level. Not at the group or hideous corporate level. Taking it to government level would be beyond insane.

The OP wants the monarch to rule over North America. I believe that includes Canada.

That is not what he said.
“ The scenario is that the national government of the USA has peacefully been replaced by a Catholic monarchy. A Catholic King is now ruling the continent from Washington DC.”
Canada is not in the USA last time I checked. He does say continent and i am not sure if it was an error. He does not mention Canada.
How did you read North America into it?

four major problems that come to mind off the top of my head are:

BAD because there is no separation of church and state.
BAD because it is likely that freedom of religion will either suffer severely or be discarded altogether.
BAD because the Catholic church historically has a poor track record regarding a wide array of human rights issues. The best predictor of future performance is past performance.
BAD because I do not trust the Catholic church to be fair, honest, open, transparent, or to have the best interests at heart of all people in the USA.

and regarding bold above, why bother introducing a topic if you're not wanting to personally discuss it? i don't trust people who put forth a topic and then don't participate in discussing the very topic they put forth. it's like serving a meal to guests, but declining to eat the food yourself that is served to others.

But. Not catholic or any other religious one, as that always ends in slaughterhouse.
Enlightened monarchy. When enlightened monarch rules self governing constituents.
What ensures that a monarch is enlightened and not corrupt -- and stays that way? In monarchies, succession is generally passed on to the male heir -- and history is full of beloved monarchs replaced by worthless offspring or competing blood lines or usurpers, etc.

Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

It is clear that the system of checks and balances in the USA is not only imperfect but failing at this point, but it is better than no checks at all.

A monarchy is a hard "no" for me, religious or otherwise.
