The only reason why we cannot build a clone of the Great Pyramid today is because it would be cost prohibitive. The Egyptians who built the pyramids didn't have to pay their workforce $7.15 an hour minimum, worry about health care costs, insurance, workman's comp, and other costs. Not to mention the labor needed to quarry the stones and process them so they are the right size and shape. Then there's the cost of transporting the stones, and on and on.

Plus, at the end of the day, the pyramids wouldn't DO anything, meaning the investors would get nothing in return.

If money and labor costs were no object, we could build one even better and more accurately placed than the original pyramids.

Oh yeah, as for the OP ... I just see it as another attempt by Christianity to usurp history and change it to glorify their own god and religion like they've done with all kinds of things.

I also find it rather bizarre that people will laugh and scoff at the concept of ancient astronauts having a hand in the building of the pyramids -- but magical gods and supernatural beings, well, that's different! Aliens are silly but gods are real!

Some of these threads are so ridiculous they would be funny if it was not so sad that people have these ideas. It has been proven that the pyramids were built by the Egyptians. Next thing you know, there will be claims that the Great Wall of China was built by God or Stonehenge was built by the Easter Bunny.

Cool story. Is it true? I have my doubts. But it'd be cool if it was.

For those who are truly interested in learning about this, I recommend
a talk given by Dr. Gene Scott on the subject.
This thread made me recall it.
I listened to this over the shortwave radio, I would say about 20 years
ago, and have never forgotten it, although that was audio only.
The full presentation which is specifically about this topic, is over 12 hours
broken into 11 separate files. He didn't give it in one sitting.

Here it is.
I just downloaded bittorrent, pumped in that link,
downloaded as .wmv, total file size
1.79 GB. Everything ok.

I somehow doubt that hypothesis. Here are the ancient Egyptian gods;

See? No Hebrew god.

Besides, there are no hieroglyphics in the great pyramid so how would we know why it was built? The fact that the Holy of Holies had the same dimensions as the kings chamber simply means Moses knew of the dimensions and copied them. The dimensions of the arc would similarly reflect Egyptian holy objects for the same reason. In fact, it seems likely that Moses actually stole the arc from the Egyptians which would explain the Egyptian army chasing them. Yeah well there are such conspiracy 'theories' floating around.

When I worked at a petrochemical complex we were building a new production line and had a crane that had a counter weight of 1,000,000 pounds. Thats like 500 U.S. tons. That could easily lift a 40 ton stone. Here are some other cranes that could do it.

Civilian use GPS (which isn't the most accurate) is accurate to 15 meters.
The great pyramid is accurate to 3 arch seconds with corresponds to 60.75 meters.

Measuring in Arc-Seconds
Global Positioning System - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

So using modern GPS a building could be constructed to 1 to an accuracy of 1 arch second.

In Addition, we see development in the construction of pyramids. The first ones that were built were not nearly so precise. The builders of pyramids had to practice to get it right. It is an amazing piece of engineering no doubt about that but I am sure we could replicate it today.

The reason why no modern builders have replicated the great pyramid is probably because no one wants to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to build a pile of rocks.
A largely useless pile of rocks at that, that was looted and plundered. A testament to what an utter failure the delusions of Ra'moses, Tut'moses, etc truly are. A waste. A desperate waste, but a waste non the less.

Here is some further info about this Great Pyramid which shows what a real mockery THE DESPERATE MONOTHEIST PROPAGANDISTS are.

The Great Pyramid of Giza (also known as the Pyramid of Khufu or the Pyramid of Cheops) is the oldest and largest of the three pyramids in the Giza pyramid complex bordering what is now El Giza, Egypt...

Based on a mark in an interior chamber naming the work gang and a reference to fourth dynasty Egyptian Pharaoh Khufu... Egyptologists believe that the pyramid was built as a tomb over a 10 to 20-year period concluding around 2560 BC....

There are three known chambers inside the Great Pyramid. The lowest chamber is cut into the bedrock upon which the pyramid was built and was unfinished. The so-called Queen's Chamber and King's Chamber are higher up within the pyramid structure. The main part of the Giza complex is a setting of buildings that included two mortuary temples in honour of Khufu (one close to the pyramid and one near the Nile), three smaller pyramids for Khufu's wives, an even smaller "satellite" pyramid, a raised causeway connecting the two temples, and small mastaba tombs surrounding the pyramid for nobles.
Quote:
Most documents that mention king Khufu were written by ancient Egyptian and Greek historians around 300 BC. Khufu's obituary is presented there in a conflicting way: While the king enjoyed a long lasting cultural heritage preservation during the period of the Old Kingdom and the New Kingdom, the ancient historians Manetho, Diodorus and Herodotus hand down a very negative depiction of Khufu's character. Thanks to these documents, an obscure and critical picture of Khufu's personality persists.
Quote:
Khufu's name was dedicated to the earth/Nile/Primordial Waters/growth/creation/etc deity Khnum [depicted with the head of a ram], which might point to an increase of Khnum's popularity and religious importance. In fact, several royal and religious titles introduced at his time may point out that Egyptian pharaohs seeked to accentuate their divine origin and status by dedicating their official cartouche names to certain deities. Khufu may has viewed himself as a divine creator, a role that was already given to Khnum, the god of earth, creation and growth. As a consequence, the king connected Khnum's name with his own.[10]

Interestingly, the pharaoh officially used two versions of his birth name: Khnum-khuf and Khufu. The first (complete) version clearly exhibits Khufu's religious loyalty to Khnum, the second (shorter) version does not. It is unknown as to why the king would use a shortened name version, since it hides the name of Khnum and the king's name connection to this god. It might be possible though, that the short name wasn't meant to be connected to any god at all.[4][9]

Khufu is well known under his Hellenized name Khêops or Cheops (/ˈkiːɒps/, kee-ops; Greek: Χέοψ, by Diodorus and Herodotus) and less well known under another Hellenized name, Súphis (/ˈsuːfᵻs/ soo-fis; Greek: Σοῦφις, by Manetho).[4][9] A rare version of the name of Khufu, used by Josephus, is Sofe (/ˈsɒfiː/ so-fe; Greek: Σοφε).[11] Arab historians, who wrote mystic stories about Khufu and the Giza pyramids, called him Saurid or Salhuk.[12]
Quote:
Khnum (/kəˈnuːm/; also spelled Khnemu) was one of the earliest Egyptian deities, originally the god of the source of the Nile River. Since the annual flooding of the Nile brought with it silt and clay, and its water brought life to its surroundings, he was thought to be the creator of the bodies of human children, which he made at a potter's wheel, from clay, and placed in their mothers' wombs. He later was described as having moulded the other deities, and he had the titles Divine Potter and Lord of created things from himself.
Quote:
In art, he was usually depicted as a ram-headed man at a potter's wheel, with recently created children's bodies standing on the wheel, although he also appeared in his earlier guise as a water-god, holding a jar from which flowed a stream of water. However, he occasionally appeared in a compound image, depicting the elements, in which he, representing water, was shown as one of four heads of a man, with the others being, – Geb representing earth, Shu representing the air, and Osiris representing death.

- The pyramid is the most comprehensively surveyed building in the world.

- The Giza Plateau has a fairly level granite bedrock base, in essence, a flat topped mountain. Other regions near the Great Pyramid could not have supported the immense weight of the structure.
- There is so much stone mass in the pyramid that the interior temperature is constant and equals the average temperature of the earth, 68 degrees Fahrenheit.

- The pyramid is estimated to have 2,300,000 stone blocks weighing from 2-30 tons each with some weighing as much as 70 tons.

- The outer mantle was composed of 144,000 casing stones, all highly polished and flat to an accuracy of 1/100th of an inch, about 100 inches thick and weighing about 15 tons each with nearly perfect right angles for all six sides. also [11:146]

- The average casing stone on the lowest level was 5 ft. long by 5 ft. high by 6 ft. deep and weighed 15 tons.

The casing stones weighing as much as 20 tons were placed with an accuracy of 5/1000ths of an inch, and an intentional gap of about 2/100ths of an inch for mortar.

- Assuming 590,712 blocks and a build time of 20 years an average of 81 blocks per day would need to be placed. Using 10 work crews per side of the pyramid, each work crew would need to place 2 blocks per day.

- The mortar used is of an unknown origin. It has been analyzed and it's chemical composition is known but it can't be reproduced. It is stronger than the stone and still holding up today.

- The cornerstone foundations of the pyramid have ball and socket construction capable of dealing with heat expansion and earthquakes.

- The granite coffer in the King's Chamber is too big to fit through the passages and so it must have been put in place during construction.

-The coffer was sawed out of a block of solid granite. This would have required bronze saws 8-9 ft. long set with teeth of sapphires. Hollowing out of the interior would require tubular drills of the same material applied with a tremendous vertical force

- There are no hieroglyphics or writings in the Great Pyramid
And it has 8 sides, not 4 that we perceive in the first look.
