As a Catholic, sinning is something that I'm very familiar with.
Frankly, just about everything I do, or don't do is either sinful or close to it in the eyes of the Church.
But the Church also acknowledges that NO ONE is with out sin.
Sin is just the lack of perfection.
I'm trying to finish the race, and the Church just gives me goal posts and out of bounds markers.
(I must admit though, that referee whistle never seems to stop)
Wouldn't you agree there is some sense of "sinfulness" when you don't recycle? I didn't think about it until just recently... If you do not do your earthly duty and try your best to save the environment, what kind of world are you creating for the future... your children? Your grandchildren... so on and so forth... if the world is turned into a large landfill instead of recycling- the environmental impact is huge. I am really serious... google Plastic Island- it is a massive sludge of plastic that has drifted into the middle of the Pacific and it is nothing but a toxic stew of plastic... I think it is something close to twice the size of Texas... I think it IS sinful to make a disgusting mess like this with total disregard to the end result... it is being selfish... that in itself is sinful... would you not agree?
So how many Hail Mary's does it take to be forgiven for not recycling? Where does it fall on the purgatory/hell/heaven list? Is it right up there with the not murdering thing or is it somewhere down there with fondling little boys?

As far as I'm concerned a murder (as a form of recreation), fondling boys (especially when they are very young and the fondling is done by an adult) and not recycling all fall in the same category of being selfish (only thinking of yourself).
Luckily I don't believe in an afterlife.

I didn't start this thread to bash the Catholic Church... you might want to try a different thread and do it there.
