Default Vatican: Failing To Recycle Is A Mortal Sin From Now On

I know there are going to be issues with the fact this statement comes from the Vatican... THAT is not what I am focused on... what I am interested in is your opinion on the failure to recycle and how it relates in your eyes/beliefs/opinions... so on and so forth... in regards to how SINFUL you feel NOT recycling is... if at all....

To recycle essentially means that nothing loses its value.
I have no problem with this; I don't care about new or old, I only care if it is useful.

We recycle, no one is commanding us to do so, but they provide red and blue bins just for that reason.

And as fas as Vatican considering this as a sin, i'll say it's just another thing that man made religion imposing on us. As long as we live we'll come up with our own commandments and call them "will of god"

"man made religion".

Is there any other kind?

I recycle because I feel like I am at least trying to help the Earth a bit even though it's not much and if everyone would do so I think it would be a good thing. I am glad you said to keep this limited to recycling and not the Vatican issue or this post would be a lot more lengthy.

So do you think it is sinful to harm the environment and not recycle? That is really what I am getting at.... I have to admit I recycle like crazy - three trash cans full of recyclables that go to the curb.... but there are days that I have chucked the bottle of water into a trash can, or put the paper in the trash instead of in the recycling... if you do research on Plastic Island you will see why I am so insane about recycling plastic... but do you find it sinful to not do your part for the environment?

I do not think it is a sin to not recycle. I think it is a choice that everyone makes for themselves.

But it is a fact that not recycling contributed to the mess we are in.
Before recycling the Vatican believed that God's bounty (read: fossil fuel) is bottomless, which it obviously isn't.

I agree it does contribute to the mess we are in, but I don't think it is a sin.

Unwilling to learn from your mistakes is a sin in my book.
At least it would be considered unwise (read: stupid and / or ignorant).
