I love being engaged in prayer and also holy chants as a form of prayer. I know in many traditions, by repeating a holy name or phrase or short prayer over and over, it opens the door to exalted states.
My question is this:
Is it most effective with the "recommended" names or phrases within a tradition; or have you found others that might be your own favorites to work just as well, though they may be not well known?
What has been your your personal experience, and what does your spiritual tradition follow?
I have found in prayer that it is more important for me to use words that I have a heart connection with, for prayer from the heart works best for me. I am wondering if the chants and holy names might work the same way as they too are a form of prayer.
Perhaps any holy words held and repeated in a holy state, with a prayerful intention of filling my heart with the love of Spirit, can work as well, that is what I am wondering.
Thank you as always for your insights and offerings.
Shalom
