Also, remember that God is sovereign - all things are created by Him and for Him (Col 1:16, another sermon for another Sunday). Satan is the most effective tool used by God for the perfecting of the Saints. Anything in us that is not dead to the flesh (the carnal mind, lusts of the flesh, etc.) will be tempted/assaulted by the adversary - but this is all under the direction of the One who loves us.

I agree, little elmer. I believe that satan has a purpose in the plan of God. God could destroy satan anytime He wanted but satan is an instrument that God uses to show us for example that goodness will triumph over evil, that mankind is lost and unable to save itself, and He uses the experiences of evil to help shape us into what He will have us to be. For example, believers are to be overcomers and develop qualities like faithfulness, patience, perserverance. How are we to develop these qualities without having something to overcome?

From God’s perspective, satan has been defeated. It’s just like seeing the end of a battle and knowing who is going to be the winner. But the battle still has to take place. Temptations, suffering, overcoming still have to take place in the plan of God for His creation, to bring about His purpose, but God knows who the winner is already. Satan was already defeated before Jesus came. It was the plan of God. Like the scriptures say:
Hebrew 1:7-8 “Thou hast made Him (son of man, Jesus) for a little while lower than the angels, Thou hast crowned Him with glory and honor, and hast appointed Him over the works of Thy hands; Thou hast put all things in subjection under Him..For in subjecting all things to Him, He left nothing that is not subject to Him, but now we do not yet see all things in subjection to Him..”
No you have free will and have to chose. Just reading the about Adam and Eve can tell you that.Even after being warned by god not to eat the forbiden fruit they did.
If God is all knowing,controlling and powerful as many believe then why doesn't he just get rid of the Devil?
Genesis says that to have a moral sense and to get to know God better, we must have knowledge of good and evil. Satan has no reality but is the word used to encapsulate all evils and woes.
To get rid of evil then means unclasifying the good. We lose both good and evil.
Sinse all churches try hard to give us moral sense and if moral sense needs Satan or evil then we must conclude that Eve, that wonderfull gal, did the right thing in eating of the tree and we should all be on our knees to thank Her for a history instead of a blanc page.
Would you give up your knowledge of good and evil.

Yes.
All mythical creaturs are made up and have no reality. God is a title like King. Satan encapsulates all evil thoughts and issues. Angels are all good thoughts and issues. There are no talking snakes or fish that spit out men after three days. No water walking or levitations. too bad.
If Satan, the title that represents all evils and woes, were to be taken from us would also take away our moral sense.
Not what God or any church would wants.

Im getting the feeling your on the wrong thread, to say that you dont believe lucifer was a spirit and still is a spirit and will never have a phyical body like the Savior, then you have never been taught the ABC's of the Bible.
