The bible and oral traditions are mere hearsay and can not be considered evidence or facts. Campbell, if as you say many have seen the ark why haven't these sighting been confirmed? Why is it, or pieces of it not in a museum somewhere? The fact that it isn't confirms why hearsay is valueless.
If hearsay is valueless, then perhapse we should let all the prisoners out of jail, because so many cases have been judged on a collection of hearsay. And if history is just believed based on written accounts, then perhaps most of the history we have been taught in school is wrong. Or is it that we can only believe such accounts when it does not support the Bible?
The account of Noahs Ark have been first hand accounts, yet The Ark just like Mt. Sinia are being kept from view because they are in Islamic countries, and those nations continue to refuse anyone from the west to explore those areas. Two Americans did sneak into one of the countries and came back with some great pictures of Mt. Sinia. Their pictures showed the land marks that Bible spoke of. The Ark over the years has been seen by many, yet today is is incased in a glacier. And Turkey refuses to allow anyone acess to the north slope of the mountain it rest on. One Turkish national did git a picture of it from some distance, and you could see the end of it. It rest at an altitude of about 14,000 or 15,000 thousand feet.
Hearsay evidence is not generally admissible in a criminal case.
No utterance, spoken or written, made in the absence of an accused person may be adduced into evidence unless through the person who made the statement. Logically the reason for the rule is that such evidence is unreliable unless the maker of the statement is available for cross examination.
So now all of a sudden with glaciers retreating all over the world the ark is encased in a glacier?
Your response shows us how woefully you don't understand facts. You say you rest your beliefs on facts, and then cite examples of two people who claim to have seen the Ark...
A lot more people than that claim to have seen werewolves, fairies, aliens, post 70s Elvis Presley, etc. Do you accept these "facts?"
Their accounts are confirmed by others as well, and the last person who claimed he saw the ark claimed it is now broken in two. Recent photographs from space confirm that there appears to be two man made objects on the mountain in question, and it appears to be the same object that now is broken in two pieces. Also the object appears to be at least 400 feet long, only now broken in two. Those photographs confirm what the second person stated. There is so much more to this story, and I could give you a number of accounts, and they are all telling us the same thing. So we are not just talking about two people here.

But....but, you just told me it is encased in a glacier.

It is often from hearsay that we are led to the truth. And if it is the truth you are looking for, one cannot ignore what others are saying. We are not trying to convict anyone here, we are simply trying to find the truth.
And not all glaciers are retreating all over the earth, there are a number of them that are growing at a recored pace.

Certain times when the weather is warm part of the Ark is exposed, but this does not last very long and it is covered again. That is the reason the national from Turkey could only get a photograph of the end of the ark. The rest of it was incased in ice. Years ago Russia sent about a hundred men to check out the ark. They took pictures of it, but before anyone had a chance to see what was uncovered war broke out in Russia and all of that dissapeared. Two men that were from that orginal group were found living in the states. They were very old, and neither one knew the other was living here. They both told reporters what they found up there, and they both gave the same story. They said it was a large ship, and it appeared the wood had now turn to stone.
We often hear that for a world-wide flood to have happened, the flood waters would have had to be at least 5 miles deep, in order for the highest mountains to be covered. (IE: Everest, etc) However...
What if.....back then all the mountains were WAY lower than they are today? What if Everest had been only 500' high?
And what if....the deepest parts of the ocean today, were only 500' deep back then?
What if....there was only one continent, back then? That split up, and drifted apart later?
We cannot assume that the earth looked even remotely the same back then, as it does today...we cannot pressume to know what the geologic conditions might have been. We can make a guess, but we really don't know...
Here is an interesting flood article I came across.
A British scientist has found evidence linking the catastrophic collapse of a glacial ice dam in Canada more than 8,000 years ago and the rapid spread of agriculture across Europe around the same time.
The dramatic discharge of freshwater from prehistoric Lake Agassiz - which covered much of Central Canada at the end of the last ice age - has long been blamed for altering global climate patterns and raising sea levels around the world by at least a metre in a matter of months.
The deluged shorelines caused by the colossal Canadian gusher have even been associated with the "great flood" myths common to many ancient cultures - including the biblical story of Noah's Ark.
If we're all related to Noah's family (as they were the only humans left), why are their races? (ie black, white, brown, yellow-skinned people). Wouldn't we all look like wherever Noah was from?
And isn't incest a sin? If so, how was the human race recreated without mixing the genes too close together?

Bud
Yeah we can. Erosion and plate tectonics take millions of years. Noah wasn't a million years ago, it was only a couple millenia. If the world changed THAT fast, then the New World that Columbus and the Vikings found isn't the same American continent we're living on today, cause after all that was 400-800 years ago. A mere 1000-1500 years after Noah.
