We can only save ourselves.
Never give up.
So just keep bailing.

By the way, pilots are taught to keep flying the plane all the way till it stops.
No mater what condition the plane is in, even if its almost impossible to control.
I hope no pilot ever takes the time to pray. They should have all there concentration on saving there life and the passengers lives.

And to answer the op.
No. I would not pray in such a situation.

I was a big city fireman for 27 years. I can truthfully tell you, from experience, when faced with what appeared to be certain death, there were only two concepts in my head:

1. I hope this isn't going to hurt a lot.
2. Total acceptance of and peace with the fact that I was about to die. Acceptance of the inevitable, if you will.

It never crossed my mind to beg for deliverance.

Why would I pray to a god, the way I see it if a god does exist why didn't he prevent the hurricane in the first place?

But to answer your question, no I would not pray.

I will never find myself on a boat in the middle of the ocean. Such a thing would be as foolish as praying to a god that's will is already being carried out. Infact the best prayer is one that asks god to carry out his will, but he will reguardless. Ones prayer should be their life not their death. That being said I wouldn't metaphorically pray to a metaphor either way.
