There is a God. And He did ask Abraham to do it. The traditional teaching on it is that Abraham had a strong enough faith in God that he believed that since God gave him the son in his old age, that he'd raise him from the dead to fulfill the promises regarding him.

The Bible says that he called the place of the almost-sacrifice "The LORD Provides". He still had faith in God--and was thankful for the ram to sacrifice instead of his son.

Apparently, he went along with it--he was old enough to carry the wood, and let his old man father bind him on the altar.

So if he did do it as you say and there is a God. If you knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that he asked you to do it (ie: sacrifice your own child), would you?
