I have spent many years wondering about and studying religions and religious dogma. Finally, I am comfortable with my point of view. Now I will spend the rest of my life trying to understand and explain what I believe in. However, one thing still bothers me, and please forgive the simplicity of the question; I don't want a very precise question to get in the way of the gut feelings some people may have.

Why would a seemingly, supposedly, perfect God create an imperfect being and then compel that imperfect being to worship it? It reminds me of the pretty girl who goes out with less pretty friends so she can be the star of the show. Additionally, if any one of us underachieved at work, would we not eventually be terminated?

I ask this question fully understanding the incredible capabilities of our physical bodies - the ability to heal itself, our reason, and penchant to create. I also have a good grasp on the amazing flux of nature. Given these fantastic realities, humans are pinned with Original Sin and everlasting imperfection; thus the nature of my question.

I also do not want anyone to think that I believe man was created in God's image. I truly believe that all gods were created in man's image, but that is a topic for another discussion. I also think it's a little silly to believe that in all the vastness of the one universe we think we know about that we are the extent of the work that a supremely powerful and capable entity has created.

I don't have your answer and this is sort of what I was also implying in my thread about the stars. We know the universe to be massive. What makes humans so special that God decided to devote all of his time to our planet?

Think of it like this. Someone wants to create a masterpiece and he creates a rough copy, maybe a draft or rough sketch of something. It isn't finished until He has created what He has in mind, the final masterpiece. Mankind is the work of God and He is creating mankind into a masterpiece. The worship that is involved and that will be involved will be for the blessing of the masterpiece because the masterpiece will be in its Creator's own image, and the Creator is awesome. God bless.

Maybe he got sick of people saying he was infallible. Such high expectations! So he did something that would prove to all the other deities that he too was capable of error.
