Walter if you are giving this as fact then all I want to see if a link for my reading as it is interesting to me.

Usually when folks give information as fact they have a link or 2 to back it up.

Just the opposite: Jews would no longer be the Chosen People, chosen to lead by example, to be a Holy people, if they abandoned the Torah and committed idolatry by worshiping Jesus of Nazareth, thereby violating the Second Commandment prohibition against the worship of other than the one, true and indivisible G-d.

All this talk about whether being a "jew" means being a certain people or a certain religion - is very old talk, and much of the confusion or questions stem from the term "jew" and how it was applied in the Ancient Near East, and how it evolved into the term we use today. This very debate of national identity or religious identity being linked to "jewishiness" was being discussed even during the writing of the biblical books.

It was not an easy answer back then, and it's still not an easy answer today - in my opinion. Whatever the outcome, it really has nothing to do with Christianity's claim that Christians are the "New" Chosen People, so to speak. All Christians? Or just Gentile Christians? And on and on again...

While Jesus of Nazareth may be the Messiah as redefined by Christians, since Jesus of Nazareth did not satisfy the Biblical prerequisites, Jesus of Nazareth is not the Moshiach, the Annointed One.

According to Judaism 101: Mashiach: The Messiah, "The word "mashiach" does not mean "savior." The notion of an innocent, divine or semi-divine being who will sacrifice himself to save us from the consequences of our own sins is a purely Christian concept that has no basis in Jewish thought. Unfortunately, this Christian concept has become so deeply ingrained in the English word "messiah" that this English word can no longer be used to refer to the Jewish concept."

Moderator cut: reminder

Folks if you read the op again you will see that he is asking . If Jews Are The Chosen People Of The Christian Faith Then Why Don't Jews Believe In The Divinity Of Jesus?

A rather difficult question, I understand simply because the bible is divided into the Old and New Testament..With Christians basing most of their beliefs on the New Testament and the divinity of Christ and our Jewish folks whose religion is based on the OT scriptures..

If you want to discuss the bolded part, please do that with a little kindness and respect for one another, otherwise this thread will be closed.

Other than dragging all sorts of religious and philosophical biases into the argument, the question really isn't all that difficult to answer. Jews don't believe in the divinity of Jesus because Jesus isn't a part of our Scripture. He's not a part of Scripture in quite a few other religions, too--which makes me wonder why this thread didn't include Hindus, for example. But everyone knows how it is, even if they won't say so publicly. There's a strong bias running rampant out there, has been for several centuries now, and you can always start an argument (even though it will be disguised as a "debate") by inferring that Jews are behind something disagreeable.

Technically he is a Jew if he was born a Jew but he is not in the Jewish family because he has committed apostasy and turned his back on his people.
You can't break the bloodline that goes all the way back to Abraham and Sarah.
