Sir David Attenborough: 'I get hate mail telling me to burn in hell for not crediting God' - Telegraph

"They tell me to burn in hell and good riddance," Sir David said during an interview with the Radio Times about his latest documentary on Charles Darwin and natural selection.
This year marks two centuries since Darwin's birth and 150 years since the groundbreaking On the Origin of Species was published.

I'd be curious to see the exact context of the letters.

It could well be that he's received letters stating that he WOULD go...not telling him to go. On the other hand, you don't need a membership card to call yourself a Christian, so it might well be that people identifying as Christians are acting that way. I'd sure like to speak to one of those folks to see what kind of faith they have.

I'm not defending anyone, but is it any worse than some of the vitriol spewed at Christians by other groups?

Lightbulb ***

The old phrase that you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink, comes to mind.
In other words, you can show people answers but if they wish to remain ignorant there is not much else you can do.

Even a worm will turn, eventually. Step on someone often enough, and damn right they're going to react. If the Christians would stop trying to inject their brand of fantasy into government, and leave the rest of us alone, then they wouldn't be getting such a negative reaction.

Our founding fathers guaranteed us the freedom to practice our religion--even in the public life.

If the atheists would stop trying to force their godless fantasy on us, they wouldn't get the reactions they do.
