Perhaps what he is trying to say is that people in the south are more concerned over faith and family, whereas people in other areas are more concerned about getting rich, getting ahead, getting the latest gadget or the latest clothing fad.

There are rich people in the south and the north both, they just have different mindsets.
Speaking of getting rich, it's interesting to note that Mississippi, which is one of the poorest states in the union and generally ranks near the bottom in terms of test scores and other indicators of education, is at the top of the heap when it comes to religion (with the exception of Troop of course). The northern states such as Washington often have high tech industries such as Boeing and Microsoft and require an educated and highly trained work force. I don't think it's a matter of something as shallow as wanting the latest gadget or fashion as you suggest. People who are more educated are somewhat less likely to be religious and I don't mean that as an insult to religious people or to the south where I happen to live, it's just a fact.

Yep, there's a direct correlation between level of education and disbelief in the supernatural.

Poor people (materially) are Spiritually educated, they are looking at the eternal wisdom, rather than the temporal (temporary) knowledge, without the understanding.

Our primary focus towards what we can make and do with our hands will lead us to our destruction. Physically and Spiritually.

The Pride of Man's intelligence, Elitism, Materialism has not made our lives any more peaceful, or positive towards our fellow man, on the contrary the "Seattle" area is responsible for the technologies and systems that kill people, everyday. Distract us from what is purposeful and important.

godspeed,

freedom

Sorry freedom your theory is full of holes...The more primitive and backward society is the more violent they are, and the more religious as well....History will show you that fact.

Somehow I don't think a struggling poor family whose jobs have been lost due to the economy would find much solace in those words. Money and economic stability have brought much more happiness than poverty ever will.

You've only proven my point. Drunk with Man's knowledge and unable to see the wisdom of God's ways, which are not man's ways.

I think the Enola Gay disproves your point on primitive vs. advanced societies being more destructive.

godspeed.

freedom

Yes, man has created destructive weapons but knowledge has also given us a higher standard of living, longer lives, improvements in medical care and cures for diseases, etc. Looking at the last couple of your posts it would seem to suggest that homeless people and those who are poverty stricken must be the most blessed people in the world. Striving to become educated and earning a good living doesn't equate to being self centered and arrogant.

Frankly I'm surprised Kentucky's not higher on the list. I do love my state, but plenty of my friends tell me I do not belong here. lol
