I'm wondering, if he knew he was going to die, and did so willingly, did he commit a suicide?

Like SBR (Suicide by Romans). Not really. He was fulfilling a prophesy which he alluded to at the last supper, "I will die in a way that has been decided for me..."

haha - that's a great question. never thought of it that way.

People whose consciousness is elevated to a certain level are aware of when they will pass. I know some very enlightened people who know the specific year they will pass. I'm assuming Christ was one such person. It's just a matter of recognizing that you're a spirit having a temporary human experience. All just physics, reallly.

... again such an awareness is in harmony with knowing one's purpose in eternity, instead of just a "fate"..

Have all people who have died for their beliefs down the ages committed suicide? Most only had to recant to be granted a reprieve. They did not and knew the consequences, as Jesus Christ knew. They were martyred or murdered. Take your pick.

If a person knows there going to die and freely accepts it, is that suicide? I do believe that Jesus knew they were going to put him to death no matter what or when. To me it is no difference than a person suffering from a terminal disease and choose to die. I believe that death is nothing more than a change in life, for I am much more than this physical body.

No more than someone who rushes into a burning building to save a loved one.
