WASHINGTON ó Want to be almost certain you'll have religious neighbors? Move to Mississippi. Prefer to be in the least religious state? Venture to Vermont.

A new Gallup Poll, based on more than 350,000 interviews, finds that the Magnolia State is the one where the most people ó 85% ó say yes when asked "Is religion an important part of your daily life?"

Mississippi most religious, Vermont least, survey says - USATODAY.com

The only problem is, there seems to be an inverse proportional relationship between religion and economic success. At least, there is in Mississippi.

The better inverse relationship is education and religion. If you want to live next to a person who can carry on a real conversation move to Vermont. If you want one who parrots quotes from a book of myths move to Mississippi.

I work in Satan's Covert Operations Center. I am one of the archangel's of sin and I have infiltrated into the heart of Mississippi under the cover of darkness and deception to create a mutinous uprising in those who believe. In ten years, I plan to cut the number of Mississippi believers in half. Someone cue the Mission:Impossible music!

Is it really like that down there? Obviously not everyone, but stereotypes tend to exist for a reason.

Yes religion is a very popular subject here in Mississippi. Unfortunately, the religion has become so man made that it can at times go against Christianity. There are a lot of people who do not want to see the change and are sheeple who just follow whatever is fed to them, then there are those of us who have seen the changes and have chose to disengage with religion and go back to basics.

So, to answer your question, yes, Mississippi is steeped in her history and in today's times with not only religion but also Christianity.
