Sorry, but I didn't convince myself of anything, the Holy Spirit is the one (not people) who revealed the truth to me. I believe the Bible out of love for God, not fear.

Well, if the Holy Spirit is telling you the Bible does not have any flaws or contridictions, you might have the Lying Spirit rather than the Holy Spirit.

For folks whose worldview includes not believing in absolutes, they sure like to make absolute statements. They undercut their own philosophy.

This thread feels like baiting ... but I'll take the bait.

The bible is the 100% word of God, 100% reliable, 100% trustworthy and 100% authority on all topics it touches upon. It is infallible and inerrant in its original manuscripts.

If contradictions are perceived, that's due to the reader's understanding or lack thereof.

The bible was written by God through 40 men in 3 languages over a 1,500 year period. These men lived in different parts of the world, some were rich, some were poor, some were educated, some were not, most didn't know each other, nor did they have access to the other's writings and yet it fits together as if it were written by one person. It was written by God. It has no errors or contradictions. It is the Word of God. The bible is accurate in matters of Science, History, and all matters of life.
There are countless prophecies which have been predicted and fulfilled perfectly in scripture. Many of these prophecies were written hundreds or even thousands of years before they were fulfilled.

If the the Bible is the Word of God and the Word of God is the mind of God, as Christians believe...then... God has a confused mind, full of contridiction.

How could this be?
Why do you truthfully want to know?

This thread feels like baiting ... but I'll take the bait.

The bible is the 100% word of God, 100% reliable, 100% trustworthy and 100% authority on all topics it touches upon. It is infallible and inerrant in its original manuscripts.

If contradictions are perceived, that's due to the reader's understanding or lack thereof.
Oh, so it's man's falult that he is incapable of fully understanding "Gods Word". Well, if that's the case, why didn't God make his "Word" easier for man to "understand"?

My belief is: If there is a God in heaven, he is fully capable of defending himself and doesn't need or require you or any other living soul on earth to come up with excuses on his behalf.

1 Cor 2:14 "But people who aren't Christians can't understand these truths from God's Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them because only those have the Spirit can understand what the Spirit means. We who have the Spirit understand these things, but others can't understand us at all".

Because I would like to know how imperfect words, events of the Bible could come out of the mind or mouth of a Perfect God. Perfection cannot produce imperfection. And the Bible is imperfect, and that's a fact.

Now, if the Christian faith of you and others want to believe the bible is perfect, then keep believing. However, that does not change the FACT that the bible is flawed. Heck, you people don't even have all the books of the bible, because the Catholic Church left out thousand of manuscripts, that it deemed "not inspired by God".
Therefore, how could you or anyone else say the bible is 100% accurate and you don't even know if you are reading the complete bible or not. The truth of the matter is, the Church handed it's followers ancient books and told them to either believe it's the word of God or go to Hell.

Imperfect how? The bible accurately recorded what God wanted it to record.

Another absoulte statement from someone whose worldview does not accept absolutes. Interesting. So what flaws do you percieve? I do admit that over the millenia there have been an extremely few copying/translation errors that have crept into modern printings. These account for 2% of the entire bible and have no impact on any doctrine. This is why I specifically stated in my prior post the scriptures are infallible in their original manuscripts.

It is my belief and humble opinion you have it backwards. The Church didn't choose the books, the books were already chosen and the Church simply acknowledged them as official canon. Isn't it logical to assume that those closer in time to the events knew better what was factual and accurate and true and could discern what was scripture and what was false moreso than us, thousands of years later?
