For me, it's the purposeful overlay of our very lmiited perceptive abilities onto the world around us. The resulting simplistic myths that define any brand of religion always limit out at what we feel is possible.

As scientific curiosity has peeled back new layers of the onion, mythologists have worked diligently to put them back, to hide the inner information. Such realities or concepts as Higgs-Boson particles or string theory are, of course, dismissed as absurd or irrational, and all should return to simple honest prayerful (and frightened) devotion.

What if there are five, or 52, other dimensions? If our limited minds permits only 3, then our myths will ergo be strictly constrained, and we have to constrain ourselves to a God made in our image.

But... what if "He" is a complex of seemingly seething gravitational warp points that utilize 36.95 as the base number, and who creates temporary "realities" by hitting some sort of cosmic "Pause" button for His amusement? And that "we" are simply one of those pauses in the endless swirl of another infinitely greater "reality"?

Since such stuff couldn't be understood and digested by the masses, it would surely discourage tithing, ergo a more childlike version had to constructed. And so we have...

Christianity.

That's annoying!

The belief that bothers me most is this: "If you don't accept Jesus you will go to hell?"

Any religion that has to go about trying to control the masses through intimidation and fear and contradictions of itself and then its followers claim that it's the truth, which is a contradiction in and of itself.

I abhor religion's obsession with all things sexual and their efforts to inflict their twisted sexual morals on others. The worst and most damaging to people, is the belief that homosexuality is a choice and wrong. I've barely scratched the surface about what I dislike about the pious, judgmental and self righteous religious...There is not a lot to admire about a lot of them in my opinion......I could write a book!

Sometimes I would suspect that spending sunday morning in the company of christers listening to some guy spout off about what god is (they never think- "mythological") could easily be construed as a form of hell.

For me, it's the notion that I need to be "saved" (that is to say, converted to a religion other than my own).
