The one thing that always sets me off is the thought that we have already been saved or revisited.

Actually...I suppose atheism wouldn't be a "religion" as much as it is a philosophy.

But there are several that don't believe in "a" god. Buddhism would be one. At least the way I understand it. Feel free to tell me I'm wrong if I am.

Theravada Buddhism is essentially atheistic, while Mahayana Buddhism is not. And atheism is absolutely not a religion, nor is it a philosophy. Unless of course you define philosophy as the disbelief in any single, solitary thing.

atheism is a philosophy that helps shape your world-view.

Dictionary.com defines it as: a system of principles for guidance in practical affairs.

The fact that you spend a lot of time on the "Religion and Philosophy" forum debating it leads me to believe that yes--it is a rather important philosophy in your life.

The Idea that God has an Ego which needs to be stroked and worshipped or else he'll get mad and hurl lightening bolts at you in hades.

I disagree with all religions. They confuse God with someone or something else that claimed to be God. You can read all about it in the old testament. It's hard to deny that great wisdom far beyond it's time was imparted to mankind by the God of the bible, along with some crazy sh#& that will happen to you if you don't obey him. But that wasn't God and yeah I'm pretty sure of it.

God is something entirely differentand it doesn't require religion...
