God resembles a corrupt politician or even a dictator.
If you analyze politicians (and dictators) you will find that god has similar characteristics.
God
-above all, demands loyalty, gratitude, and obedience.
-praises himself for being powerful, good, just, etc.
-threatens to punish all skeptics and those who criticize him.
-condemns critics without giving them a chance (fair trial) to defend themselves.
-is elusive and not available to answer hard questions about his accountability.
-makes great promises, but it's highly doubtful if they will be fulfilled.
-blames all problems and evil on his opponent.
-says he cares about your situation, but, other than words, nothing will change.
-don't open your mouth unless it's to praise him.

I call him benevolent Leader.

-- He does require loyalty and gratitude and obedience--which we should give to any leader that is good.

-- He does state the obvious--that he is powerful, good, just, etc.
-- He will punish the evil ones, and those that are set against him and those that he protects
-- He has given you every opportunity to repent. You are judged evil according to the fact that you violate the commands he has given us all.
-- He is available--just pray.
-- He makes great promises and does not fail to deliver.
-- He doesn't cast blame that isn't due.
-- He does care about our position, and if we are willing to submit to him he will help us in our time of need.
-- We are invited to praise him, as well as express our petitions and needs to him.

wow!

no. this semblance is man-made. needs some thinking capacity re-activated to refute this statement..

there must have been a time before "God" changed from the YOU every I could perceive without fear!

before a sincerely HOLY and WHOLESOME SPIRIT keeping the individual as well as a community in harmony was taken out of context and made into a third party, a third person, a referee, a judge, an enemy, a punishing device, a "superior" instead of the supreme ...

and the superiors became mighty and elaborated on and about, where equals before them were communicating with and speaking to ...

said with sadness ...

Actually I would make one change. MAN is the one who projects these things on a being they themselves conceived. How do we know, in part? KDBrich has shown you can come up with just the opposite.

The gods have been forever created in the image of man. The gods are often blamed for the madness of men and unfortunately, examples of these things give others the idea they can do and say the same.

I think you're exactly right. However, the Bible seems to indicate such a wide spectrum of behavior for God which ranges from a loving and forgiving God to a vengeful and jealous God that an individual can conjure up their own image of the God they want to believe in and have passages in the Bible to back it up.

Benevolent leader? When does god lead??? It's always someone else claiming that god is doing the thinking!
Who does god protect?! No one! Bad things happen to every single type of person.
Available? I prayed for years about a very important thing dealing with an innocent child....and NOTHING ever happened....Oh I know....it wasn't god's timing! Well a child has to suffer mentally because it's not time?! Whatever.
Promises? HA! Let's see...the verse says something about whatever you ask in his name you'll receive....anyone ever ask and ask and ask for something to happen and it never does....Enough said.

You have substituted words that have different meanings than those of the OP. Also, provide assumptions for which evidence points to the contrary.
Is the only way to defend god by being dishonest?

Might have something to do with the fact that the descriptions were influenced by corrupt politicians and dictators.
