U.S. Supreme Court, 1961, Torcaso v. Watkins. The decision of this court case deemed it illegal to require religious faith as a prerequisite for holding public office.
So you only have a problem with constitutional rights being violated if it only effects you?

What do you expect?? These states are full of close-minded, conservative, Bible-raping bigots.

Unbelievable! Talk about a giant step back. Not only can atheists not hold public office they cannot testify as a witness in any court....I'm sure this one will be thrown out, but if not freedom of choice is going down the tubes in the US.

If you are an American you would have the freedom of religion granted in the First Amendment of the Constitution and also the Bill of Rights for starters. I think your problem is you think that means you have the freedom to believe in your god, but as so many other of your post you are wrong. It grants the freedom to follow any religion or not follow any religion you want. It might help if you review the basics of our Bill of Rights before you show your prejudice against free thinkers.

I live in AR and haven't heard of this until now, it's ridiculous, but it doesn't surprise me. And to think, I was just talking about the good stuff about Arkansas in the AR forum. I might have to take all that back now.

Completely ridiculous, but not at all surprising.

And when their attempt at subverting the Constitution is overturned, you can bet those states will start crying about how the Federal government is intruding on their "rights."
