Whats the major difference?

If someone knows too much about some video game or movie (Like Star Wars or Star Trek) people make of them. Which I feel is wrong, as we all have our interests. But some go a bit over the top and dress up and act the parts and remember all these details the actors themselves don't know.

Bible thumpers are very much the same way in a sense with all the theories and science fiction-ish sounding stories and magical lessons.

The difference I've seen is that "geeks" don't try to shove it on your face and make you see things their way or get mad if you disagree with them. In fact they tend to ignore you if you rag on em.

We need hobbies and a desire to belong to something beyond ourselves.

I don't think geeks believe that star wars is real.

You see "geek" like its a bad thing.
Excuse me while I go sob over my game collection. I may have to play some Devil May Cry 4 or Halo 3, maybe even Left 4 Dead, to make myself feel better. lol

lol at this point I think I'll take the "geeks" over the fanatics. Annoying they may be but at least (usually) they don't see what they like as the real thing

most sci-fi geeks don't think a person's eternal destination depends on whether or not they like to watch Stargate. (Great show, btw).
