2012 Debunked
Hell, Heaven or Hype: 6 facts about 2012
Facts:
The much publicized apocalyptic date of December 21, 2012 - claimed by many researchers and authors to be the last day for the world designated in the ancient Mayan calendar system - appears absolutely nowhere in all of ancient classical Mayan literature.
There is no clear connection between the ending of the Mayan calendar cycle and the Mayan concepts of what they called the Sun Ages or World Ages.
At the winter solstice sunrise on December 21, 2012, our sun will not precisely cross over the center of our galaxy.
There will be no convergence of terrestrial or celestial disasters occuring all at once on December 21, 2012. Neither will this date herald the advent of some form of global ecstatic leap in our collective consciousness that will suddenly usher in a golden age of instant spirituality.
The bogus end-of-the-world Mayan prophecy for December 21, 2012 finds no parallels with similar prophecies that supposedly exist among several cultures and religions in other places of the world.
So what will really happen in 2012? Probably nothing at all. And when the would-be prophets are left to pick up the pieces of disappointment, more than likely they will cover their embarrassment by claiming the end-date calculations were wrong, or better yet that 2012 was indeed significant but that disaster was miraculously averted. Either way, a new doomsday foreboding will be heralded for farther in the future, and the pathway of paranoia will be blindly followed by many all over again.

Even if it is real, why worry about it? If its real then live life as fun and as best you can, not on here.

Someone has explained on here somewhere that the Mayan calendar has always had cycles. Maybe they can explain it on here as well. It has nothing to do with the end of the world.

I fell down the steps of a Mayan pyramid when I was a kid. I still have scars all over my back where I got cut up from the stones. I declare that this makes me the Marked One, chosen by the Mayan Gods to rule the earth starting on midnight, December 21st, 2012.
All hail me!

I have said many times on many other threads that had to do with the Mayan calendar and the so-called doomsday prophecies that the Mayan calendar predicted no such thing, it is only the winter solstice, the Mayan calendar has been around for 2500 years, December 21, 2012 will be the end of the fifth cycle of the Mayan calendar and the beginning of a new cycle, nothing more, nothing less. The Mayan calendar is a 500 year cycle and it is far more accurate than the present Christian calendar that is used today, so there is no mistake, I think it's extremely funny how all of the so-called doomsday Christian prophecies want to use a Native American calendar to try and support their own agenda, amazing.

The Mayans had a prophecy for every year of their calendar...all of these "2012" nuts fail to mention that the Mayan "forecast" for 2013 says "crops will be fruitfull, the people have renowned faith in their leader"...now, how can all this be true if the world ends on 2012?
Funny though, I did read that one fellow in, the 20s I think, said the world "as we know it" would end on October 29, 1969. Well, nothing happened...at least that's what it looks like. But, that was the day the first version of what would become the Internet came on line. So, maybe 2012 will be the "end of the world" but will be something none but a few notice, like maybe some guys will invent a time-machine in their basement or something.

Don't speak too soon... 12/21/12 is still over 3 yrs to go... so really, no one knows if it is of any significance until it passed!
I'm watching the signs... as the Bible instructed the wise and faithful to do. We are given the prophecy of the 70th Week in the Book of Daniel... meaning the last 7 yrs which is called a "Week" will happen in a Sabbath Cycle. Well, Oct 2009-Oct 2016 is a Sabbath Cycle and could very well be the dreaded last 7 years!
In this context... then 2012 fits very well with the global cataclysm foretold in Revelation. These are the violent earth changes that will happen beginning on the 6th Seal, and from the 1st to 4th Trumpets. These natural disasters are the result of the passage of a Star called Wormwood... which fits very well with the brown dwarf star NASA code named Planet X!
(Google it to know more about it).
Is it possible this is the catastrophic event that will usher in the rise of the Antichrist to World power and to institute his Mark on everyone in order to buy and sell... because all money as we know it has lost its value?
Also, is it possible the Mayans, as great astronomers, knew the cycle of this brown dwarf and calculated its arrival in 2012?
