Is it possible to be spiritual and an atheist?

What does that look like?

Any atheist willing to talk about their spirituality in the absence of believing in God?

I read this earlier and it's been stuck in my mind:

The Spiritual Atheists - Steven Waldman

Jains are also atheists.

Many Asian religions are actually atheistic. Taoism and Confucianism are atheistic, however, they're compatible with other religions, so most people who are Taoist or Confucian are usually something else as well. Some of Confucius' teaching are said to have been an influence on the Catholic church.

Yes, there can be spiritual atheists, as already stated in this thread.

So do you or Haaziq consider yourself spiritual and what does that aspect of your life look like?

I mean, do you mediate and, if so, on what?

I think it was Cheilgirl who said once that she was into yoga and/or meditation, but I might have the poster wrong.....

I'm just interested.

Thanks SuSuSushi.(And Haaziq)

My spirituality is off the roof lately. I just can't help it but being in touch with and learning about other people's religions or beliefs makes me feel quite spiritual.

I consider the word "spiritual" to mean someone other than just pertaining to a religion. You can have a spiritual moment when you achieve something that was really difficult to accomplish...aka "Damn what a rush!"

Spiritual (to me) is a "feel good inside" feeling that does not necessarily have to have a religious involvement.

To me, spirituality is feeling at one with your surroundings. Being happy that what you are surrounded with evolved the way it did. Taking in the sights, smells and touches that are all around you and appreciating them for exactly what they are. It's an overwhelming feeling for me, but definitely not one that is religion or god based. I don't feel god, or a holy spirit or anything even close to that. I just feel what is there and it feels good.
