Default I'm new to the idea...

I've never really felt any pull towards religion. This semister in college I took an introductory to philosophy class and any feeling I had about there being a god was completely ruined for me. I read an overview of a handful of philosophers theories of why there is a god, and I found so many flaws that it is so hard to believe.

My two biggest complaints is; There is no answer for where God came from. AND They say god is omniscient, omnipotent, and all good. But if he is good why is there evil? The loving god the Christians clam to have wouldn't inflict pain on his children for nothing. Do you really have to have the bad to have understanding and gratitude of the good? I really don't think so...just a couple of my issues

But any how, I just wanted to introduce myself and say hi. I'm going to start trolling this piece of CD so I wanted to get to know some of you!

Do you want those questions answered?

1. God is eternal. The only other conclusion is an infinite regression of gods, or creators--meaning that each had its own creator, going back in time infinitely. That would mean that an infinite amount of time has passed to get to now. That's impossible.

2. Your other question is how can there be evil. God allows mankind to be evil--because ultimately by saving us, he is glorified.

Who told you the loving God wants to inflict pain?

Kelsie, welcome to the "lighter" side of things!
You wont have an answer here on AA board, but if you really want some magical explanations, you'd better visit the other side, but be prepared...

Because people do those things? In the end they will be judged and get their due payment.

Why should the anger reserved for child molesters and rapists turned towards God?

Do you like the idea of a God making pre-emptive cruise missile strikes on potential child molesters?

Why should God be accounted for man-orchestrated crime?

No more impossible than your concept of your god being eternal.

But of course a fault in thinking never stopped you religious zealots, did it?
