It just occurred to me that I don't recall ever hearing about such a thing. Maybe I missed it.

Anyone?

I can't speak for society or for history. I can only speak personally. My mom is the devout, praying type of Catholic. Rosaries, novenas, etc. Years ago there was a horrible case of sexual abuse in my family. Cousins. Kin, and my parents are very closely bonded with their parents so this ghastly crime most deeply affected them. The legal ramifications have been guarded, as the parties were underage. But their faith required them to forgive, and they did. They do, even with their hearts heavy it was lightened by the belief that grace is available to everyone. That is not valueless. What's the non-religious answer of forgiveness?

Yup, nothing like keeping dark family secrets, but what has this to do with the OP?

I have only read about religion starting conflicts, but none about ending them.

That's a fantastic question which every church-goer should try to answer!

Yes. Cultures and individuals and people who choose to live in peace, and choose not to engage in violence (including war) prevent war from happening.

Read more deeply about the causes of war. That's what has to do about the OP. Understand more deeply about what actually ends war, too. Cynicism isn't the same as being sans peur. Is reconciliation purely non-religious? If you know, please explain rather than tossing venom.

Back to the OP, I can't think of a case where religion can take the credit for stopping a war.

Thank you. That was my point, really. (And ironically the response to it was rather aggressive and dogmatic.) It is, if the OP will forgive the comment, a rather one-dimensional proposition that begs one-dimensional responses, which furthermore rely on any one poster's reduction of historical circumstance without benefit of public analysis. I could only make it personal because, wow... 6-year-old kid: Why is there war? [Insert quick response...right...errrrr...]

Anyone cares to educate me?

How many wars were "created" by religion except the Crusades (let me humour you)?
