Father's Day is this weekend..Lets pay tribute to them and at the same time enjoy another thread of friendship among us..
Please feel free to share a poem, a story, a picture about your Dad..or the man who took the place of your Dad..maybe it was an uncle, a big brother, your grandfather, or your step-dad?
When I was three, my father took me for a ride on his motorcycle. Parts of the memory are vague and disjointed because of my young age at the time, but there are parts that are still so vivid that I turn to the memory for comfort whenever I'm feeling sad, and I think about it every Father's Day.
I remember the wind on my face, the noise of the engine, the sound of his voice urging me to hold on tightly, the sheer thrill and exhilaration of feeling both loved and free.
It's my only memory of him, but it's such a beautiful memory that I'm extremely grateful to have it and cherish it every day.

We remember and cherish the everyday things that brought us a feeling of love and protection from our parents when we were children instead of the things they bought us..Thanks Christie for sharing that precious memory with us..
I wrote this about my daddy two days after died in Nov 1989
This was a man who never had a bad word to say about anyone. He only said good and kind things. This man loved his family and showed it by always putting them first. He loved his fiends and also showed it by helping them every chance he got. This man loved God and believed what the Bible says. He lived it every day of his life.
It didn't take much to make him cry. Only saying I love you would bring big tears to his eyes. But he was so strong in his belief in God.
He only wanted what was best for his family. The love he had for his wife was deeper than anyone will ever know.
The special twinkle in his pretty blue eyes could make anyone smile and when hear heard him laugh you had to laugh too. This was a man that touched many life's not just by what he said, but how he lived everyday.
He was kind and gentle and big and strong. So very special.
This was my daddy.
My dad is a good man. Not a great man, no, not conventionally accomplished or one with some wildly blessed talent or legendary charisma. In fact, he has many stubborn flaws that drive us crazy. But he's just a very, very good man, the pillar of our family, who would never ignore us or shun us or hurt us in any way, and knowing that is a comfort you can only appreciate later in life.
I wept a little this morning when I woke up because I realized this is the first Father's Day I don't have a father to say Happy Father's Day to.
My dad, with all his flaws, loved me and I him. He's been gone now 11 years.
My FIL, with whom I bonded and loved as well is also gone, 7 months.
Then my kids came up to me, wished me a Happy Father's Day, gave me a hug and kiss and my wife made me a special breakfast. I thanked my Heavenly Father for my family, for my blessings and smiled.
