So does the Koran...so what? I bet you don't think the Koran is the word of god just because Islam claims it to be. A claim either means something or it doesn't. You can't have it both ways.

Hehehe. Depends on who you ask. Tolkien was a Catholic so some of your fundie Xian kin would claim he wasn't a "true" Christian. Tolkien of course did recognized Christianity as the cultural mythology that it is so maybe they are right.

Regardless, Tolkien's religious background isn't in the least bit relevant to the point I was making. When you have a self-admitted work of fiction that makes more sense and is more solid than the so-called word of god, I think that says quite a bit...

Where in the Bible does it give the age of the earth?

But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 2 Peter 3:8
You're most welcome!

Yeah, lots of other books make outrageous claims as well.

When the bible was written most of the people were still very superstitious. Believing in one god was a huge leap for mankind back then. I am sure if Dinosaur bones were unearthed they believed them to be ancient dragons that had been killed long ago. The had no idea of geology back then in the way we do now. The only way to explain dinosaurs back in the bible writing days would of been something along the line of dragon lore. Many of the superstitious myths are not prevalent in the bible. I would assume that dinosaur bones would of been related to myth ideas, and kept out of the bible.

If you stop to think about it...there's one line in the Book of Genesis reading, "And there were giants in those days." Wouldn't you think it makes sense that someone had actually discovered some dinosaur fossils, and drawn what would have seemed like a logical conclusion? So perhaps at least indirectly, there were dinosaurs in the Bible!

If the earth is 6000 years old then how on earth or what on earth happened to the dinosaurs?
Yes the Bible does mention dinosaurs in at least two chapters.
Consider links below.

Leviathan Sea Dwelling aquatic reptiles Dinosaurs in the book of Job Leviathan dinosaur bible kronosaur plesiosuar

Dinosaurs have also been depicted on ancient artwork such as Ica Burial stones. Consider link below.

Of course if Dinosaurs died of 65 million years ago, they would not be seen on ancient art work, or spoken of in the Bible.
