I can't stand ticks, those are the nastiest creatures! Ewwww!!
Also, those nasty maggots that come from nowhere!! Ewwww x2
Maggots come from flies, babies eeewwwwwwww!! So flies are nasty.
I had a tick on my head from camping with my dad when I was 6, man I got so sick they couldn't figure out what was wrong with me, then they found it!! Size of a quarter!!!!!!!!! nasty!!!!!!!!
I have had this discussion with Christian friends, only instead of parasites it was concerning the diseases that cut innocent lives short everyday. Instead of giving a reasonable response, usually "Satan did it" . Though, if God is all powerful why doesn't he just snap his fingers and eliminate misfortunes such as diseases and parasites? Surely God can open a can of smack down on Satan if he created the world in 7 days, but I suppose not. In my own view though, parasites are a marvel of evolution (such as roaches as MontanaGuy explained). Parasites will always remain about as long as their hosts sustain a healthy population.
After being chewed up by fleas for the past few days and then contacting poison ivy yesterday while working in my back yard I'm wondering why people who believe in God think he would have created organisms that serve no purpose and the only way that they can survive is by making their host suffer. When you stop and think about the descriptions in the Bible of the Garden of Eden and the supposedly perfect world that existed would you also think that God filled it full of mosquitos, lice, tapeworms, fleas, and countless other organisms that are of no benefit whatsoever and their existence only causes torment to their host? Since I'm sitting here with at least several dozen flea bites and my left hand is stinging from poison ivy (avoid plants that have leaves clustered in threes) it's a good thing I don't believe in God or I'd be making some very unpleasant comments to him.
When talking about evolution, or the big bang or what ever you believe in. How did the flea evolve and how did the many bugs evolve?

It is believed that fleas evolved from flies because of the similarity of the larva. There is evidence that insects have evolutionary ties to crustaceans
Most living things would ask the same things about the creation of humans.
Funny....I was actually thinking that. Scary when we agree.
Honestly...it's all one big ecosystem...and I think God is glorified by the big picture.
And then, we have the little issue of showing how good God is when he saves us from our sin.
