Christians, i have a question for you. According to your believe, by accepting JC, you will be granted everlasting joyful afterlife in heaven. So my basic question for you: Why is that you always say that "life is precious" while you here? Precious in what way? It baffles my mind when someone gets murdered, baby gets aborted, mother dies in childbirth, etc.... the lost life is always "precious"? Why do you believe that life on earth is indeed "precious" if there is much much better life in heaven? It appears that "gloom'n'doom" on this earth, according to you, can't be seen as precious at all. If second coming of Christ is so fanatically desired by fundamentalists, why clinging to the life on earth? It seems that you can't wait for Christ to come and take you away to a "better" place.
So, what makes your life so "precious'??

I'm assuming it can be a lot better in Heaven?

What we do here matters. Both to us now and to where we end up. Possibly for all eternity in some sense.

Our lives touch other lives. As long as we live this can be so. As long as we live we can learn and teach. By even suffering a painful death, rather than just suiciding, one can learn something about strength in adversity. About giving and receiving compassion/love in hard times. And also maybe the pains we suffer here deduct some time in Purgatory. So generally Catholics teach opposition to abortion, euthanasia, and most executions. (Catholics can accept the death penalty in a restricted number of cases. I believe we can also accept removing a fetus of an ectopic pregnancy to save the mother's life so long as the purpose is not to kill the fetus)

Now if one believes that everyone immediately goes to Heaven than I'm not as sure why life would be precious. Even then though living as long as you can maybe would shape what kind of person you'll be in Heaven.

You should know the Christians of America have been warping Christian message for a long time.

The way I was raised, we pray for good things to happen in life. And I'm a regular church going freak. I petition God and my life's been great so far. We also lead a righteous life so that nobody gets permanently harmed because of our action, like raping, killing, stealing money etc. A life which will guarantee a place in heaven. Simple.

I can't complain. It works for me

I even prayed funny stuff when I was young, like asking God to protect me from wives who are so flat I can iron my shirt

American christianity is what guys have grown to loathe. It's a point worth noting.

I've never used the term precious,as I think we live in a garbage can of a world corrupted by sinful man. Precious may be used in a short-term sense lived here on Earth as compared to eternity will have with the Lord in Heaven
