HASLETT, Mich. - Divine intervention? Or just plain luck? No matter what the circumstances, a Michigan church is $70,000 richer courtesy of the Michigan Lottery.

The Covenant Life Worship Center and its 25 members in Haslett, Mich. had one of the second-prize tickets in the Lucky 7s raffle held May 4.

Is playing lotto a sin? IMPO, No! I don't think it is! But a curse comes with Winning huge amounts of money!

It's not a sin, it's just stupid because you're throwing your money away because the chances of winning are much less than being struck my lightening. The really big lotteries like the PowerBall have odds so astronomical that someone who doesn't buy a ticket has approximately the same odds of winning as someone who does, and that of course would be zero.

Back in the day, every now and then I would buy one ticket. Not because I thought I would win, but because for one dollar I bought the right to dream about what I would do if I did win. And that was worth it to me.

Well I hope churches aren't exempt from paying lotto taxes also..

The question is, does the Covenant Life Worship Center of Haslett, Michigan, believe that playing a lottery is sinful? Because if it does, then there's no way around it: they'll just have to return that money to the state.
