Right ! It's so much better to say " Misbehaving" or "gone astray" or "not up to snuff" or "wayward soul" or "daggoned naughty person" or "takes all kinds" or "Can you believe this dude ?" Scalawag, degenerate, bottom of the barrel, ne'er do well.
I don't even know how this became a topic for debate. In the first place, it's not as though Jesus spoke English--words an exceptionally prim person might object to don't show up often in Aramaic. And in the second, would you be willing to go out on a limb and agree that cultural standards might have been different in the area of (Roman occupied) Palestine some 2,000 years ago? Thirdly, "potty mouth?" Is the OP addressing a bunch of first-graders?
Sometimes it's amusing when people impose their standards on a different place and time. And sometimes it's just pathetic.
Uhhh. You realize this was 2000 years ago, on the other side of the world, a totally different culture.....
I don't think they had the political correctness back then that we have now. Also the Bible has been incorrectly translated and run through a proverbial game of telephone, and is not accurate to it's original wording.
