First, I would like to to applaud all those with the nerve to suggest they know what god is thinking. As if "thinking" is even a proper use of the term when in the context of an infinitely power being (I'm assuming that's your representation of "God").
Secondly, if God made a "gay gene" maybe he did it to force all the narrow minded bigots to learn how to "live and let live".

If this is just a theory, then there is no proof to back up these assertions. The Christians have cited Bible references that back up their beliefs. While many may not feel the Bible is a credible source, according the the Christian faith it is. So if you do not subscribe to the Christian faith please bring forward proof from your worldview, and more than just an "I believe this or that." We all have opinions. They're a dime a dozen."
I've said I believe, NOT it is, since when does a belief require proof?
You say Christians have cited Bible references that back up their belief. How convenient, they say they believe the Bible and then claim the Bible backs them up. THAT"S not proof!, THAT's belief.

It's POSSIBLE being Gay is God's sick idea of a joke, you certainly have no more PROOF it is or isn't than anybody else on this planet.
Could it possibly be that being straight is due to environmental things such as family dynamics, living conditions, incest, rape, lack of a parental figure in the home?

Oh, Hoosier Guy, I'm so disappointed in you -- you seem so accepting, and yet say that. Remember -- I don't know if you do or not -- when Schizophrenia was considered --- a product of the home!!?? The parents that suffered through this -- and they often blamed the mothers -- because their child was delusional and crazy. And then they discovered that it was a brain disorder!! All these mothers who were told they were bad mothers. What would you do if one of your children developed a horrible mental disorder, or worse yet, became homosexual?
I have a good friend who is schizophrenic and he comes from an "ideal" family -- I mean, really. Plus, he is very wealthy, went to the best schools in the country, the family is highly educated and just really good people. He is the only one of his siblings who developed the disorder -- although they do think that one of the grandparents had it, only in those days they didn't know much about it. Can you imagine if one of your children developed a horrible mental illness and then they blamed Mrs. Hoosier for it??? You would never believe it -- yet, others would be saying it was so.
I am absolutely positive that there are gay people from very stable homes, homes where the parents accepted them, and homes that were not in any way abusive, neglectful or anything of that sort. By using that kind of logic, then any family that was terribly dysfunctional would produce those kinds of kids, yet kids from those kinds of homes can come out okay and overcome those obstacles.
I just find your statement truly unbelievable from you.
For those of you interested, in addition to the Human Genome Study that has been ongoing for decades, here is a new institute funded by Paul Allen of Microsoft fame that is studying the genome and other biological factors of the BRAIN. It is something to keep an eye on:

There are exceptions to everything. I tend to agree that being gay can very possibly be a result of incest or rape. Not all gays are going to have this in their past but I think it's possible very many do. And not all dysfunctional homes produce this. It's just a theory.

Gotta go....just love your kids, be kind to them, and support them in whatever life tosses their way!!
I agree with Hoosier on this, I think the things he suggested to play a large part in why some people turn to homosexuality. People have no control over brain disorders or mental disorders. Being gay is a choice.
OK Biblical and Godly Authorities -- why is sex mentioned so often but love in that context is not?
