Hey - it seems very interesting, but this came up:
Not ready to pay right now.... even though it seems like a good deal....
Unfortunately, I heard this evening that Scientific American will no longer be allowing their "in-depth" articles to be read for free online. I believe it was effective September 1st but I'm not sure about that.
I believe the economy has issued a bit of a stranglehold on many major publications - most noticeably newspapers but also magazines.
I had a subscription to SciAm for a long time until everything became free on their website. Then I canceled it. Looks like I might have to start subscribing again. I guess I'm one living example of their reasoning.

Yep - people gotta' be paid to keep working. I find most science very interesting and so I guess it's time to find out who's offering the best product. I assume SciAm has your vote?

I used to subscribe to it years ago. Seems a lot of online things like that are going to subscriptions. Just curious, but do you think you might subscribe for the magazine by mail, or the online version?

I actually really enjoyed the magazine and still have quite a few back issues lying around the house. I may very well end up subscribing to the magazine by mail. My only complaint with the internet site when it was free (and even now) was that I always found the layout to be very scattered and hard to find what you were looking for. But, because it was free, I figured I'd just deal with it.

It is also my favorite magazine. I trade them with family for a few other science related publications thus saving a tree, and money.
