Yeah I know it is a weird thought. It popped in my head a few weeks ago. Does anyone think that God, if it were true and all, actually asked Mary if it would be okay to make her have a baby? It seems to me that forcing it on her was kind of a violation. Anyone agree? I don't think I've ever heard this discussed anywhere.

That also brings up the question of un-wed relations?

I guess it does. Never thought of that either. It is just generally accepted that it was all fine and dandy for God to force himself upon Mary.

Um...how do the Christians say it? Oh yeah..."God can do anything he pleases with his creation. Who are we to tell him what to do?"

Yeah yeah that's right! God expects us to behave better than he does! God is the classic "do as I say not as I do" example!

That's a good point. Not much freewill involved in there.

Now that's something I've never thought of but it is an interesting question. Do you suppose that the Holy Ghost showed up with a dozen red roses and asked her out to dinner first?

the op's question appears very embarrassing even in today's feminists contesting biblical records.
metaphysics has been gradually abandoned by the church, with its understanding disappearing from a cultural tradition not showing in scriptures.

as to romantic courtship and the holy ghost: sperm bank donors don't send dreams to young receptionists, or do they?

IMHO

Did the Sun ask permission to appear in the constellation of Virgo? Hmmm.

Perhaps the 3 wise men (in Orion's belt) could tell you.

Or perhaps the answer lies in astrotheology?

This would make a great "chicken or the egg" question.
