Contrary to what we discuss here, 80% of Islamic women are very religious and wear that hijab with pride. It's part of being muslim and the realization of that is what is difficult to people in the West, if freedom of women is measured in terms of lying in the sun by the pool, clad in the smallest of bikinis. (But each time I see these women, I thank the Lord for creating them, LMAO)

There is oppression in Afghanistan, but that's a different story, where a mob runs the country. But I would recommend a trip to a women's university in Iran, say. You find proud women, who happen to be apples of their father's eyes, they socialize in groups, have guys running behind them and the whole nine yards.

The whole "oppressed women" idea is a myth in the eyes of the West, smoked up by the media too. Not every Islamic woman is shot in the head at a Kabul football ground.

It is a cross cultural disaster because a lot of things insan might want to convey is not being conveyed because of the english language barrier. If this were an Arabic forum, he would be more verbose.

And the people who make smartass comments on Islam are not gaining any brownie points because the intended audience does not read it like an American would, to truly get offended. So who's the loon here It's all of us, not the OP.
See that's the issue here. I don't have a problem with the women wearing their Hijab that is not the issue. I think it is a issue, that someone would say that our there girls are virgins and you american girls do not. But the reality is, Muslim girls are married when they are children.

Muslim women are treated bad and the men who run that country are horrible, but Insan is the one who wanted to talk about these issues, with sweeping what is really going on.

So, sorry, I don't feel bad about what I wrote.

Muslim girls have the right just like american girls here to marry when they understand what marriage is. I could care less what country you live in, if you marry children, oppress women, you are disgusting in my sight.

Now, let's put insan away. He's just the balancing other side of this tragic ignorance comedy.

Let's start from the actual bone of contention here. Mohammad is not to be judged/gauged by the definitions of 2009 I read a post on this thread that said he married a kiddie girl. And almost everyone says that.

Well, it's the same class of people who also say Trajan or Alexander is gay. Or worse, Jesus is a socialist. These statements are just bizarre and ignorant.

Abraham had several wives, I'm pretty sure some of the women he may have shagged were young, extremely young. It does not make him a paedophile. A million christians and jews, even muslims, will rise up in revolt, if he were tagged so.

And what you or I understand about marriage is definitely not what people in the Islamic world understand. The yardstick you use for judging the ME is not a fair one, Shawn, that's all, it's irrelevant. And India and Malaysia are the most heavily populated of the Islamic populace. India's extremely democratic and the veil is not even enforced, the government can arrest people enforcing sharia law. And Malaysia is pretty cosmopolitan too. Not all of the Islamic world is run by the Taliban

Malaysia, probably the only fact I know about it, has secret police who enforce the sharia law. A couple I know, an Australian man and a Malaysian woman, both Christian, were watched constantly by these police, making sure that they didn't hold hands etc.
One of the largest Christian populations is is India where there is quite a bit of persecution by the Islamic population.
