Fair question, I suppose.

Seen it in all flavors.

Stopped by a Gay Church a couple of months ago. (no I am not gay, but the preacher was a friend from college). They would not let us (the kids that is) past the front door.

I had not really put a cause together for "why." Just observing it everywhere we go.

My darker cynic would muse that Jesus taught "Let the Children Come to Me." And the path presented is clearly opposed to that. So I would suppose that modern American churches are probably about as opposed to Jesus as were the Pharisees of His day.

Hope my inner cynic would be wrong, but that would be some "Watch The Fruits" thinking, I guess.

When they got older, they still preferred to sit beside me in church instead of attending the "Sunday School"..unless I was the teacher.
Sounds nice. Thanks.

Suppose we should be looking at Pikeville, Kentucky?

Think I have a cousin who is LDS.

Suppose I should ask him.

Thanks

Thank You.

Do they usually do that as part of a church / church group with the parents, or something that is usually outside of any given church?
Godly Play is used by many different churches to help children experience God but it has also been used in hospitals, prisons and many different contexts. Adults get as much out of it as childrend do.

Here is a link for you have an idea of what is about.

If you are interested you can get more information by doing a Google search and I am sure you can find outwhich church near you uses this system.

In our church we use it instead of the traditional Sunday School but children are welcome to sit in church with their parents if they prefer.
