I don't like the word religion. What I have is not about religion but a relationship with the Living God through Jesus. I am a Christian that goes to a Baptist church because I believe they follow the Bible more closely than other donation's. I do not believe that Baptist are the only Christians!
I also attend a charismatic non-denominational type church. We chose it because its doctrine most closely matches what my husband and believe. Also, the style of worship (music) is what we like. My husband is a musician and this is very important to him.
OK, but why did you chose a non-denominational Christian Church? With all the others to chose from, why a non-denominational church?
Many denominations these days are mired in rules that man has made. We are a bible-believing Christian Church that doesn't subscribe to a hierarchy as most religions do.
Hi Im new here, but recently found this website and have been reading for a few days now, like it so I decided to finally reply.
The reason I choose a non-denom church is that for me, they arent following a guideline set forth by say the SBC (Southern Baptist Convention), or other governing body. In no way am I knocking the SBC or anyone else, Its just so much easier in a non-denom church to get anything done, such as for example, start a bus ministry. In the first church that we wanted to start running buses, (non-denom) it was simply this, ask the pastor, get a bus, find volunteers. Go!
When we (myself and wife, family) decided, and thru prayer and with much thought, that it was time to move to a diff church, we changed to a SBC church. Much different!
Form a committee, have a church wide vote, pros and cons, will the building be okay, etc etc. We finally did start a bus minsitry there. But it took two months.
I guess in a nutshell non-denoms (for me) are more open to be led by the Spirit to branch out, do more for Christ than denom churches are. They seem to want to over think things..

Amen Spunky
and it woundn't be so bad if there was a common theme
but they all have different rules
and some aren't even remotely consistant with the bibles teachings

I had to laugh at this. I used to be Southern Baptist, so you definitely hit the nail on the head!
