Before celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ this year maybe we should ask ourselves again:
What is a Christian?
"Someone of European descent? A persecutor of Jews? Someone who votes for only the most conservative Republicans?" asks Mark M. Mattison, True Grace Ministries.
Well, I'm not a Christian but I think I can probably come up with a pretty good definition. A Christian, in my opinion, is someone who believes in the basic teachings of the Bible which would include the belief in the human soul, that Jesus was the son of God who was born to a virgin mother and was executed for his teachings after great suffering but rose from the dead after three days and that his sacrifice has allowed mankind the chance to have eternal life if they accept him as their savior. The teachings of the Christian religion have many points that Christians can't agree on themselves but the central theme is faith and the disagreements have always existed in one form or another but they are not particularly important in the overall scheme of things. It's not what I believe but I think that's a pretty good simplified explanation from an atheist.
Is Christian the one who throws the first stone for he is free of sin?
