If he has dementia, which it appears he may have, I wonder why his family lets him get on the air and say things that probably make his followers uncomfortable. I find it amusing. But I would imagine that average 700 Club viewer is probably disturbed by these wild swings he has been having in the past year.

“It’s completely out of control,” Mr. Robertson said. “Prisons are being overcrowded with juvenile offenders having to do with drugs. And the penalties, the maximums, some of them could get 10 years for possession of a joint of marijuana. It makes no sense at all.”

Mr. Robertsonsaid he does not understand why alcohol can be legally purchased, and the other, not. He wonders why so many are imprisoned for these non violent offenses.

I think he is being a logical and consistent person in this matter. Christ was no teetotaler.

I'm still waiting to hear who the next president is going to be, since he says he's the only one God revealed it to.

He must be bouncing off the pinball bumpers on the right.
I agree that it's a very... odd... stance, but the reasons given in an earlier post are perfectly logical.

Unpredictable...or willing to embrace any position that will get him a little publicity because that's how badly he craves attention?

He has not "swerved to the left". Legalisation of marijuana shoud not be considered a partisan issue. There are many conservatives who think marijuana should be legalized. These type of libertarian ideas are held by persons who are liberals as well. From a biblical perspective - marijuana use should not be prohibited. God created this plant and his creation was good. It is both compassionate and moral(qualities that churches generally embrace) to promote the use of cannabis for medical purposes - which is a primary reason it should be legalised.

The apostle Paul wrote "everything is permissable for me - but not everything is benefical. Everything is permissable for me but I will not be mastered by anything." - 1 Corinthians 6:12.

Marijuana should be legalized. The use of it should be tempered with responsibility and moderation - like alcohol should be used. I see nothing inconsistent with Mr. Robertson's opinion.

Reform of marijuana laws is not a 'Left' or 'Right' issue.

What makes this interesting is that marijuana prohibition is one of the cornerstones of the popular front of the 'Family Values' folks with whom Pat Robertson is closely linked.

Personally, I think the man's a few hundred bricks short of a full load. Anybody who thinks a tornado can be stopped thru prayer is seriously delusion.

But, I agree that pot should be legalized. Tax it, supervise the sale and distribution of it and use that revenue for public programs.
