Is Jesus a socialist and pacifist?
Last I heard, Jesus died a few years ago so today he is neither.

Maybe you meant "Was Jesus ..." ?

If there were ever a Jesus, he'd be dead.

Doesn't this belong in Religion?

well, they're trying to make jesus into a political figure. Same thing that churches are doing daily. jesus was a martyr, a historical figure who was killed .. oh, and he was a jew too. Constantine made him a christian centuries later.

(1) Capitalism under Adam Smith was equal opportunity for exchange of products and services. Not so much today, not when so many services and industries are consolidated by a few.

(2) Please do not use the popular political lexicon "keeping USA safe" as euphemism for stealing other people's resources.

Here's why Jesus Christ is anti-war and a pacifist, he told his followers to turn the other cheek when somebody hits, the point, somebody has to be a pacifist instead of both parties escalating the tension. Another is live by the sword, die by the sword, this one is self-explanatory.

To be a Christian is to be Christ-like, to be like Jesus Christ, and Jesus Christ would've supported universal health care and some socialist policies, because the policies are ways to help your fellow man, woman, and child.

For the last time- CHRIST WAS NOT A POLITICAL LEADER AND DID NOT HAVE POLITICAL INTENTIONS. That was the initial misinterpretaion of the Apostels. They thought that Christ would be a political leader and savior on earth, and that they would reap the benefits. Only later did they understand that thier reward would not be on this earth.

Isn't that why hard core nut job conservatives are editing the bible?

Can't even take the word of God if it violates what they want to believe.

Jesus is dead. If jesus said hey let a government come in steal your living to pay for others via gun point, harnessment and then taking money direct of of your pocket every week. I would tell jesus to get lost. Maybe Jesus should get a job and see if he enjoys having the government come over to his house with men, swords and strong arming you into any system they see fit as "FAIR". Say Jesus you were a carpenter everything you made is consider a profit, and you must share any trades, money and or mutually agreed income with us (the government)
Free giving, charity in any form is freedom. If jesus was to live in the modern times a utopia is not build on stealing from individuals. Sharing is a choice not a regulation and stealing is considered the last time I checked a commandment. Thou shall not steal. So while all of you so open to the idea of having the government run there verse of fairness, socialism and what is considered turn the other cheek or should I say bend over and take it where the sun don't shine.

You can't control what the government does - render unto Caesar what's Caesar's, but it's good to share freely of your own volition. That's what the multiplication of loaves and fishes was all about. I think Jesus had it figured out pretty well.

His arguments have merit.

Jesus preached sharing of world resources, caring for the sick, feeding the hungry, and helping people who genuinely want to work to do so.

Remember that when you're in at the gates of heaven, you'll be faced with Jesus and told to account for your sins. And Jesus won't be an idiot ... he will not only look at your individual actions but the actions of the people whom you chose to represent you.

In a way, it has more force than your individual actions (unless you own a non-profit or charitable organization) because representatives hold the purse strings of our economy and have the ability to create change in social policy. And the way I see it, the Republicans have done the following:

1) Enlargened the military and used it to spread death and destruction in places where it really wasn't needed (Iraq anyone?)

2) Cut funding to social programs to help those in needy, sending hundreds of thousands of students into disarray into how they can afford college, sending women who are battered back onto the streets, the homeless and the mentally ill back on the streets.

3) Desecrated nature and opened up wilderness to logging, and allowing mountain-top removal mining techniques (as if normal mining techniques weren't bad enough) among other things, in clear violation of the duty we have to allow human life to continue on this planet.

4) Many Republican leaders violated their marriages and showed themselves to be the very human people they are, clearly breaking one of the Ten Commandments.

So, to me, it is very unconscionable how anyone who is a true Christian can possibly vote Republican given their record of violating the teachings of Jesus Christ.

I hope he has mercy on your souls.
