No I haven't reverted back to Christianity! Can I get a witness?! But I've been pondering on this for a few days. When I was in church this was a common theme for sermons. Everyone would be jumping and shouting at the preaching of "being brought out of the muck and mire that you were in before you were saved."
I'd sit there and be thinking..."WHAT muck and mire???" I wasn't a big time sinner...no murder, no adultery, didn't ever drink, do drugs, smoke, (I know some of this stuff is silly....but that is their ideas of sin) I was never a prostitute, I loved my family, I was a good citizen....I could never think of anything that I was "brought out of" upon becoming a Christian!
But being that it was a Pentecostal church just watching television was being in the muck and mire...or wearing a pair of pants (if you were a woman)! LOL! If anything I was annoyed that I got rid of my tv and pants....good thing I came back to reality. Has anyone else ever had to sit through one of these torture sessions?
Thanks - i knew that but it was nice to see that again. There are some commentators in FOX who seem to go nuts with the foxhole quote - I was being sarcastic.
God keeps us out of the muck and mire when we put our trust in Him and not of things of the world.
And yet, this strategy has failed so many people.....
