Sir Isaac Newton, who is considered by many to be one of the worlds greatest scientist, also had a great intrest in Bible prophecy. This may come as a shock to some. Yet recent 300 year old manuscripts that were written by Newton, have been revealed to the public.
Based on the prophecies found in the Books of Daniel, and Revelation. Newton came to the conclusion that the second Coming of Jesus Christ could occur around the year 2060 A.D.. It was also his belief, that around this time, we would see the return of the Jewish people to land of Israel, and their return to the city of Jerusalem. Newton also believed, that the Jewish people would rebuild their third Temple on Mt. Moriah, and all of these events would lead us to the final battle of Armageddon.
What I find most interesting here. Is the fact that for many years, non believers in the Bible have stated that Christians have twisted the Bible to make it's prophecies fit world conditions. Yet, here we have one of the greatest scientist who ever lived saying the very samething that we Christians have been saying in recent years. Only his report, comes to us from 300 years ago.
Sir Isaac Newton was correct, when he said the Jewish People would be returning to Israel near the time of the end. He was correct when he said the Jewish people would be in control of Jerusalem during the sametime. And time will show him to be correct again, when the Jewish people rebuild their third temple.
And the reason Sir Isaac Newton could make such accurate predictions 300 years ago, is because Sir Isaac Newton believed in the God of the Bible.

Newton used apocalyptic literature--none of which was ever meant to be taken literally--as a reference point for predicting an alleged historical event? The comment at the end of the article, that he didn't intend his musings to become public knowledge, was dead on the mark. Newtown had more common sense than that!
I saw a program about this on the history channel the other day. My first thought was that he was making a lot of assumptions, and they didn't do a very good job explaining why he made those assumptions in the first place. For example, the way he came up with the number 1260 was based on the assumption that days were years and that years were decades. Then he decided to add that to the year 800. He was using hindsight of when the holy Roman Empire started. There is also a huge issue of credibility of his initial source of data. Anyone can take a set of information and manipulate it to seem like something meaningful. Statisticians do it all the time. Newton was brilliant, and his contributions to science are great; however, that does not mean that every single thing he worked on is dead on. His methods (as presented in the documentary) were very unscientific, and that is probably why he didn't want this work to be made public.

Newton used the Bible, and believed it literally. And that's because Newton was a very devout Christian believer. And Newton believed the captivity of the Jewish people was to last "almost 2000 years". He also believed they would return to the land of Israel before the return of Jesus Christ. And he believed the Jewish people would rebuild their third temple in Jerusalem near the time of the end, which would occur around the time of the Great Tribulation. Now, maybe you personally don't believe the Bible is to be taken literally. Yet it's obvious, Newton believed it should be. And clearly, everything Newton has written about Biblical prophecy, speaks of a literal fulfillment.

Newton did not have to make any assumptions. The Book of Ezekiel chapters 37,38, and 39 clearly states that God would allow the Jewish people to return to the land of Israel in the latter days. The Bible tells us the Jewish people would also retake Jerusalem, and their temple would be rebuilt. Newton simply believed the Bible. And we know today, that the Jewish people have been returning to the land of Israel. They did take Jerusalem, and many Jews now want their temple rebuilt. Just as Newton predicted. And the Bible tells us that when these Jewish people return, this would anger many nations. And all of this activity would lead us into the Great Tribulation. If your seeking the truth on the prophecies of the Bible, I have found that somtimes the history channel is not that good of a source. And even though much of what Newton predected has already come to pass, they say his methods were not scientific? Does the history channel believe that Gods Word can only be understood in a laboratory? Scripture tells us, it is God alone who reveals his truth to us.
I think Newtons whole views would change dramatically if he were alive today and saw just how far advanced science has come.
Why would Newtons Biblical view change, when it is obvious that Newton was correct about the return of the Jews to Israel, and Jerusalem? And their desire to rebuild their temple. A true scientist will acknowledge facts, and Newton was a true scientist.
