Would you be willing to put on the Atheist's glasses for a day? Why or why not?

There was a period in my life where I believe I came as close as I'd like to. I'm not sure I could, in all truthfullness, even for a day, go around and not believe He's real. Why? Because I was raised from day one surrounded with information about God. Yes, I did try to ignore him for a while, to blot him from everything I was doing and thinking. Still, deep down, I knew He was there. So to completely try and say he doesn't exist I just couldn't. There's just too much within me (and around me) that's says He's there.

I try my very best to see things from others' perspectives while in discussions, to see from their point of view, but I personally couldn't abandon God for even one day. He's too much a part of me.

Maybe if there was some guarantee that I would not die that day.

No...I lived too long as if He didn't exist. Those were the most miserable years of my life! I only hope now that every day I wake up and say Thank You Lord, even when I may not feel very "spiritual".

Without Him there would be a hole in my heart and emptiness in my soul. With Him there is peace and love and life and comfort and knowledge that we're not alone...and because of Him, we have the hope of heaven!

What do you mean? Do you mean would I be willing to question my faith and ask hard questions? Yeah. All the time. Unquestioned faith isn't faith; it's just sort of a comfortable pseudo-prejudice. But that's true of all convictions, be they theistic, atheistic, or whatever. If we never seriously question our beliefs, I'm not sure how strong they are.

Better than that, would you be willing to get on your knees and pray to God to enter your heart so that you may believe? Heck, that wouldn't even take a full day. And then you would have so much time left to rejoice.

Again, I am only speaking for myself but I don't think you can do that...

I am assuming people are christian because they FEEL that is what is right...they can't suddenly NOT feel that anymore, just like I can't suddenly FEEL christianity is right for me.

I went alot of years trying to FEEL what everyone else does, I looked for it, I read things, I attended church, I even dated a theology student whom I loved more then life, all the while worrying he would find me out for being a fake...its not a hat you can put on and take off, your belief system is part of your make up...its in your bones.
