Once Again, Pat Robertson Is A Poster Child For Stupidity
I just read this news report about the terrible earthquake in Haiti. Here's what the great intellectual Pat Robertson has to say about it:
I don't know about anyone else but this man just makes me sick. I would also hope that Christians will criticize this ridiculous point of view because it reflects badly on the Christian religion due to the fact that so many people associate Pat Robertson with the Christian faith.

The sad thing is his popularity. One fruitcake I can take but hundreds of thousands willing to swell his coffers... Now that is scary. I guess brainwashing is his game and he obviously does it very well. The man sounds like a monster if one reads about his history with dictators and more than dubious investments in blood diamond mines etc... He has been quite a busy little bee it seems getting very cosy with Charles Taylor and other not so nice people...

I am fiscally conservative and not a fan of fiscal policies of Democrats (not that Reps do a good job). But when Reps strut Palins et al, they lose me. The way I see it, I dont mind extra taxes etc - provided we can keep these religious loons in check. Many independents think the republican party has been hijacked by the religious right.

Odd, there are four or more threads on this dork on C-D, and yet I have only counted about 4 or 5 folk claiming to be christian coming out and condemning him.
I guess the deafening silence must mean they, the majority, condone his assertions??

Why anyone give this man attention or airtime is beyond me. He is not helping the Christians at all.

Rabid Christian Fundamentalist is more accurate and more discreditable.
Now, as to predictions. I recall on another thread there was talk about whether there were still prophets.
Is Pat Robertson able to get predictions from his cosy chats with God?
"Sometimes the messages are quite specific. In 2008, for example, he predicted a major stock market crash and rising fuel prices.
For 2010, Robertson said, God gave him a more general warning of judgment for America's acceptance of abortion, gay marriage and secularism.
In 2007 Robertson predicted a terrorist attack, possibly involving a nuclear weapon, but it did not come about. "All I can think is that somehow the people of God prayed, and God in his mercy spared us," Robertson said in January 2008."
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpu...ith-satan.html
I don't know whether the 2008 prediction was actually made before it occurred. Apparently the 2007 prediction was and didn't pan out, so he waffled his way out of it.
The 2010 prediction looks a bit vague. 'Judgement' of some kind. So whatever nasties happen he can claim that is what be predicted.
So far he looks like a fraud to me. It's bad enough that Theists ascribe whatever happens (good or bad) to God, and let him take the credit, but Robertson does the same and takes the credit for himself.
