One can almost hear the glee in that statement.

Wow...11 pages of responses. Perhaps one of those pointed to what I will now refer to.

May we see a comment from Hitchens on Robertson's special brand of immorality and arrogance.

There is only one obvious devil here and he wears a suit in the comfort of his parishioner-funded mansion. The devil is not among the thousands of moral and ethical "saints" among us knowing risking their own lives to save the innocents struck down by a combination of tectonic plates, poor building codes, and chronic poverty.

If the Institutional Christian God exists, he is down in the Caribbean with his children and not with folks at the CBN and 700 club planning on how to increase donations next fiscal quarter. Robertson...what a beast, undeserving of love and affection! Somewhere there is a dark corner behind a shed waiting for his arrival and disposal.

S.

Pat could have a point, but it seems tectonic plates have long been a concern in the entire region of
Haiti. Earthquakes are a natural occuring threat in this region and even North America will see otherwise dormant faults (Missouri,NewYork Cental America) become part of a catastrophic change in our lives soon. The Haitian people are I believe predominently Catholic and although may not be biblically nurtured they have through Cathoicism the acceptence of Jesus Christ and have diminished the "generational curse" implied by Pat Robertson. These people are really sweet and have scratched out a living in spite of poverty, limited resources and if anything the enemy whould love to cleverly dilute them ( the audacity of these slum dwellers accepting Christ!!! I'll kill them and the world will call it an "act of God" ha ha ha ha ha ......ha ha ha ha)

The problem here is that the bible speaks of a 4 generational curse a generation is 40 years thus god is only 50 years too late. Then we have the statement that the son shall not be guilty of the sins of the father, so which version is correct?

And seeing that they were not xian to start off with, were coerced by the French into belief of their own sky deity version, these folk kinda thought WTH after hearing this benevolent god and not seeing it in the proponents of that god, revert to their own primitive beliefs and rebel.

Looking at their natural resources, not much, but of course enough to attract investment where "cheap" labor will ensure max profit, apply the mushroom effect of religion and wallah, the investors have easy pickings.

Of course this is a double whammy as this is yet another (non) sign of the end times providing the "trainee cloud surfers" with warm fuzzies of the impending 3rd return of their mythical jesus

Seeing his abject failure to rid the wurlde of sin or to defeat the arch enemy satan, I wonder if he gets it right this time round? Seems the only thing he is consistently good at is his failure to turn up according to his followers predictions.

Meantime, all that he appears to have at his disposal is the use (read:excuse) of natural disasters to warn us of his impending return (which science knows all too well what causes them) And this megalomaniac is served/worshiped according to a relationship one has with it

Rush Limbaugh: "We've already donated to Haiti. It's called the U.S. income tax." 1/13/2010

Former President Bill Clinton was asked to respond to Limbaugh's statement on ABC's GMA this a.m.
"We give some money to Haiti every year not very much. Our foriegn aid as a percentage of our income is the lowest of any of the wealthy countries in the world."

President Clinton went onto say "But when people get into trouble, the American people are the most generous in the world and I think they instinctively know that."
